the local shop, Piche's, is having demo days this weekend at Gunstock. They have Volkl, K2, Nordica, Atomic, Salomon and I'm not sure what else. Not sure what models will be there either, but I'll be there checking them all out.

Have fun and don't forget the check list that VG has posted. It's a great reminder for later when you're trying to remember what you liked and didn't.

so I only got to 3 skis today because my husband was waiting at home for me to go snowshoeing with him. I was the first one at the demo tent at 8:15

The first 2 skis I did 2 runs then went into the warming house at the summit to write my notes. One more run then switched them out for something else. The last pair I had on I did NOT want to give back. I spent over 2 hours out on them and plan on starting with them first thing tomorrow, maybe the longer one though.

I'll do my write up after I demo a few more tomorrow. I downloaded the Excel sheet for taking notes and it was great to have.

So here's what I tried today in no particular order:

1. Blizzard Viva 7.6 IQ
2. Nordica Victory
3. K2 Burnin' Luv

care to guess which ones I didn't want to give back? Go ahead, give it a shot!

I would answer, but it would be cheating since I just saw your status on facebook.

Had to go peek!! Now that's interesting. Gonna have to look for those.

billed as *the little black dress of the mountain* as in, goes everywhere. I did trails I never would have tried on my own skis. Tried a 156 today, going to try the longer ones tomorrow. I think they are 163.

I didn't know there were so many people around Gunstock on this forum! That is the first time I demoed skis (right after I bought a pair a few months ago... should have waited :( ) I demo'ed the Fischer Breezes and I loooooooooved them. I'm scheming in my head about how I can sell my current skis and buy the Breezes. . . =/

whew...where do I start? First of all....DH and I spent WAAY too much time at a party last night, getting home about 6AM. (Actually having no parents or children to answer to is kind of neat!) But still.....I was whipped before I started.

However it was snowing and I had gotten seen a pair of Auras on site yetsrday. So I slept for 4 hours, had some caffien and off I went.

Volkl Fuegos went first. Did not light my fire after the Burnin' Luvs or Blizzards. Don't get me wrong, it's a nice ski, just nothing special to me. The rep said to not even bother with the Tierra since it was a step down just with a wider shovel. Ok, next.

What? The Auras aren't here? WTH?? The rep brought them yesterday and not today?? 8+ inches of fresh snow and no Auras :(

There wasn't really anything else I wanted to try. They didn't get any Tough Luvs this year and the Blizzard in a 156 was out already. So I tried the 163s. Nice enough, but I think the 156s are perfect for me.

Write ups coming tomorrow maybe. I've got to get some sleep so I can get out there for some fresh tracks in the morning.

Ok. I must tell you that any "rep" who would tell you that a Tierra is a "step down with a wider shovel" from the Fuego is an utter idiot. These two skis are actually "equals" with different specialties. The fuego is a pure carver, while the Tierra is an all mountain ski. It's a shame you didn't try them based on that poor advice. For reference the previous names for these skis were the S5/Five Star (Fuego is a bit wider but the same "line") and AC3, both their top of the line skis for women in the carve and all mountain lines.

I don't know why I said "rep," he is just a dumb kid from the shop. I was too tired to be out there and really wanted to just ski which is why I didn't push it with him over the Tierra. Maybe if I had done a better job with my homework before heading out there I could have told him what the ski really was.

FWIW the snow was amazing. I think just about ANY ski would have been fun!
