Cranmore: 12/22 and Attitash/Bear Peak: 12/23

When I discovered that I had extra vacation days left (we're use it or lose it here), I decided to take the whole week of Christmas off! Then, we got beat down here in New England with an awesome snow storm!!:snow: So I called up my little sister and we booked a hotel on Sunday for a night in North Conway, NH.

Cranmore:
Left Somerville at 8:30am on Monday morning and arrived in North Conway a little after noon where we picked up our 2 for 1 tickets (yay!), and hit the slopes at Cranmore. This was my first time here, and it was a fun little mountain. Not everything was open and it was cold and very windy, but what was open was great with packed powder and some UNpacked powder. Some of the trails were partially groomed, and I managed to misjudge some snow depth and do a powder faceplant :ROTF: Too bad no one could document it, but it was probably pretty funny to watch. Didn't stay too long as the wind was a bit much, but we got in lots of fun runs.

But man, getting back on my old skis after demoing was rough! The first turns pretty rough getting used to them again...so much harder to turn than the skis I demoed!

No photos at Cranmore except some documentation of how dirty my car was

We stayed at a nice little hotel called the White Mountain Hotel and Resort. Not terribly expensive, and they gave us free breakfast since it was a weekday stay

Attitash/Bear Peak:
Tuesday was also very cold, but it was sunny and the wind was pretty minimal compared to Monday. We got there around 9:30 and tackled both peaks till 3:15 (lifts close at 3:30, but we needed to get my sister's rentals back to the shop we got them from an hour away in time!). More awesome packed powder conditions. The peaks fast North, so there was lots of flat light since we're in the shortest days of the year, but some trails were sunnier, and the views were fantastic! Lots of fun and ZERO lines. Next time I ski on a weekend it's going to suck!! Awesome time, and it feels great that I've already skied 3 days so far this season!!

I'm kind of regretting demoing skis now though. All I can think about since the trip is buying some newer skis! I'll just have to keep my eyes out for some awesome deals.

Nice report and pics, thanks for sharing! FWIW, my car looks like this all winter. If I wash it, it looks about like yours by the time I drive it home, ha. (the no-rust secret: a lot of heavy fall wax!) Attitash and Cranmore are fun, and both have great Mt. Wash views. Brr, though, I was cold just looking at the pics, as I was out on 12/23 and had almost NO exposed skin (having once almost frozen off my earlobes, which no longer is an issue since "the helmet years").
Think SNOW :snow: (that lovely storm is essentially history since the warm-up/fog/rain)

We had a blast, but it was quite cold! However, after boot and hand warmers, my face was OK with just the neck gaiter. When moving on the lift or down the slope it was definitely covering most of my face!
