Crampons for your shoes

I see folks slip and fall in the parking lots all of the time and I have always maintained that, for many of us, an injury on the way to the hill is more likely than one on the hill, especially if it's icy. Not long ago, at one of the resorts I work at, a guy fractured his ankle----after removing his gear at the car, but came back into the lodge to use the restroom before driving down. And he ended up in the ER.

Then it happened to me on 12/27--but not skiing, just WALKING. I slipped and crunched my neck on a snowbank on my way to the car. My Sorrels just couldn't dig in and I went down. My neck is buggered up, but no fracture, thankfully. As a Mountain Host, I spend a lot of time walking around the base on snow and ice--so I needed a solution and found it.

Crampons. I have two pair and these are GREAT and cheap.

STABILicers SPORT Ice Cleats stretch right over my hiking boots and I have a larger set of cleats for my Sorrels. These have nuts on the soles and really dig in. NO MORE OOP-TE-DOOS on the pavement for me!!!!

Divas--save yourselves from a stupid parking lot slip or even when out shopping, shoveling, etc. These pop off and on quickly.

I also have CAT TRAX for my ski boots, but these are a bit harder to get on and off---but for those who boot up in the car and walk to the moutain, they would be recommended.
