Copper Mountain - Easter Sunday

First, a disclaimer, I am juggling making biscuits and gravy for 25 and have baked 60 biscuits this evening and am on batch 2 of gravy so I haven't uploaded photos yet. Honestly, the photos are of NannyMin and scenery, somehow we didn't get one of us together. Oops.

We decided to meet a little later than planned so I could have Easter breakfast with my family so we were at Camp Hale around 9:20ish. Weather started off COLD (3 degrees at my car at 9am!) but we knew it was supposed to warm up to around 35 and the cloudless blue sky indicated that would be true.

We headed up for an easy warm up off American Eagle and then headed for Copper Bowl which was fantastic! While not fresh snow it was in good condition with a few soft bumps. During the day we also hit Spaulding Bowl (so NannyMin could see where I took my kiddos last week), Cabin Chutes (which I've never headed down before but Nanny was game and it was great, probably my best bumps run ever!)

The only very sad part of the day was skiing upon a mass of patrollers huddled over someone. I knew it was bad when I spotted it and then realized they were doing CPR. And a young boy stood and watched. Both NannyMin and I wanted to go grab the child and protect him but knew that it wouldn't be good. I only hope it wasn't a parent (there was another man there) and the person lived. Say a prayer for these people please if you are the praying type. :(

But, overall, it was a fantastic day (tempered with a bit of sadness) and I have the sunburn to prove it (um, yeah, forgot to put my make-up on this morning which has my sunscreen in it, oops). Nanny, thanks for joining me, I'm looking forward to skiing with you again on Saturday! :becky: :ski2: :ski2: :ski2:

Robyn it was so great to meet you and even better to meet and ski with you!:ski2: :ski2: :ski2: Thanks so much for a fun day and for putting up with my slower skiing!

A few other highlights from the day:

:yardsale: Visiting the site of SnowHot's infamous yard sale!
:humble: Robyn talking me through my first poma lift!
:becky: Robyn talking smack to a guy on the lift who was a moron!

Haha, I forgot about the lift guy! I asked which way he was going at the top so we didn't run into him and his response was "down". I said "Yes but which way" and he said "Down". I said "You can get down by going either left or right". His response "Guess I'll figure it out." Dude, we're trying not to run into you here, can you help us out a little bit? Nanny and I were cracking up as we exited the lift making a quick left to get away from him.

Ok....I just looked at what you ladies were skiing today!
Nice!
Robyn....you think I can keep up with Nanny?
I'm worried! :D

Ps....I missed skiing with you ladies today....but it may just have killed me! :becky:

Wow, I love Cabin Chute, especially the whoopee dos at the beginning of the run. I'm going up tomorrow and will check the Summit Daily News to see if there is any information on the person you saw.

If anyone is around I'll be skiing Tuesday, Thursday somewhere and definitely Copper on Wed. It's my last day of class so I won't be available to ski with anyone.

Nanny loved the whoops at the beginning of Cabin Chute as well, I told her she sounded like my kiddos! :D

Not sure but if our friend who is a ski instructor at Keystone is off on Tuesday then we'll most likely go to Copper since he doesn't like to to ski at his place of employment. If he doesn't ski with us then we're open to suggestions.

Okay.
I may be doing WP or Vail on Tuesday, but I can be easily swayed. :becky:

Fun areas to ski! :D

I love those bumps in Reso, too, when they're soft. Long bumps, to be sure, but good times.

I am jealous of people who skied Easter. I sat around in a lazy pile at my parents' house and ate too much chocolate and drank too much champagne.

And re: that guy on the lift. . . was he a moron or just trying to be clever?

The guys over at TGR love to *report* on the stupid gaper convos they have over the weekend. Maybe this guy was trying to force one. Only he ended up sounding like the idiot! :spit:
