Just came upon this and thought it looked so, so cool (especially for the gearheads among us!):

From She Skis director, Krista Crabtree: “All the ski magazines feature superstars testing their gear. I wanted to bring the ski test experience to the female public. With She Skis, participants get to test over 25 pairs of women-specific skis that haven’t been on the market yet. Usually only ski industry people get to try next season’s skis. Along with demoing great gear, you get three days of small-group instruction with Vail’s top female instructors, daily après-ski parties, a hefty gear goodie bag and more. You’ll finish the clinic as a better skier and you’ll have a wealth of new ski knowledge.”

Looks cool but expensive, I wonder how many woman they get.

For $650 you can get a season pass to Copper and Winter Park, all day lessons every Wednesday all season long, excluding Dec. 20 and 27, demo K2 womens skis, 3 videotaping sessions, 10% off products at stores owned by Copper. You ski with the same women and instructor all season.

Women's Wed. is not limited to passholders, all women are welcome.

I agree that that's a little expensive. Because unless you live there add accomodation and travel. But it would be a great experience!!

I too wanted to do it when I lived in Cincy. I planned on doing it last year and something told me not to. Now that we own a condo its easy to be here on Weds. for the class. Many of the women drive up from Denver for the day. Many of the woman have been doing the class for several years and the instructors are awesome.

BTW, I've had 2 classes and my skiing has already changed.

Which clinic are you referring to? The Vail clinic or the Copper Women's Wednesday.

Last week Copper WW had a bootfitting session at Surefoot and an apres ski wine and cheese party.

Did anyone end up attending this clinic last year despite the cost? If so, can you share your experience? I just got an email regarding the same clinic for the upcoming season and now I'm curious!

For pure ski testing, it is expensive. I doubt anyone cares to test all 25 skis after all. Maybe at most 10'ish, at $60+/pair.

But if the instruction is good, that's no more expensive than many other clinic, mostly run a little over $200/day.

EEK! It's up to $799 now! I just emailed and asked if I could negotiate an exchange of services discount. Unfortunately, it might depend on whether I can get a ride out there, and the price of lodging.

It is expensive, but I'm working on content for the skis.com website, so I might be able to deduct it as a business expense.

That would be great if you get to attend! I looked into and really wanted to, but at that point I too many trips planned already. Please post a TR if you do attend.

A few years ago I participated in something that sounds similar, but not so many women's skis to test. Belatedly, after filling out exhaustive comments cards on the skis, I realized we were just a focus group disguised as a ski clinic, and the company should've been paying us to attend instead of us paying them. Hopefully, especially as women's skis have improved and women are being recognized as a growing and well-informed segment of the market, the instruction at the Vail clinic will be top-notch as will the skis.
