Confused About Ski Jackets

ski once a year. This year, we're going to Keystone and I really want a new jacket to replace my Columbia system jacket with the zip-in fleece liner. It seems kind of constricting.

I bought this jacket from JCpenney -- it is more of a shell than a heavy jacket but it has this low-loft insulation. Anyway, I was thinking of wearing this with a North Face fleece. Does that sound like a good way to go or should I look for another Columbia system jacket with the zip-in liner?

Thanks!

it seems like it would work fine for you, as long as you make sure your inner fleece fits without feeling too tight underneath the top layer, and you're not looking for something more technical with pit zips...

I had a Columbia with zip-in fleece years ago, probably when they first started making them (late 80's, early 90's?). Didn't work for me, mainly because it didn't "breathe." This was discussed earlier in the Gore-Tex thread (too lazy to look for it, sorry). Unfortunately, there's no great way besides breathability ratings to know if your jacket is going to trap sweat, and maybe that's not a problem for you anyway. Sounds like your current choice will work out, and you can always ditch the fleece jacket for a lighter layer (vest?) if you get too warm. Definitely go for the comfort and ability to move around in/with it. Good luck, and welcome to Divas!
