Comparing skis

I am planning on demoing some skis sometimes soon. The demo shop at my home mountain has Elan, Vokl, Fischer, Atomic and Nordica. I am probably an advanced beginner, just starting to go on blues. I started skiing last February. I am taking a 2 hour class every Wednesday(for 10 weeks) and our instructor(for 3 of us) told us that by the end of the season we would have done the entire mountain. Right now I have some old demo Elan xrc 140. I am 5'5" and about 115 pounds. I know that the skis are too short for me, but that is an upgrade compared to last year. I am skiing in Upstate NY.

1. I am thinking about trying the following:
a. Elan Mag Spice 146 or 152
b. Atomic Cloud 7 149 or Cloud 9 151
C. Attiva Luna 149

What do you think of these choices?

2. Does anyone know the difference between the Elan Gold/Silver Magic and the Hot/Mag spice?

I do not think that the others are appropriate at this time. Here's the list:

Thanks

I don't know much about the Elan's, but if they have Fischers I would definitely try them. I love my Fischer Visions, and many other divas share the Fischer fan club.

I loved the Elan Black Magic when I demo'd it a few years ago. Cloud 7 or 9 would be a good choice in the Atomic. Also the Breeze from Fischer. I don't know much about the Volkl's but many here do.

Just try anything. If it makes you smile and giggle then its the ski!

Try everything they have in your size. You may be surprised how skiable some of the "advanced" skis are. One you find the ski that gives you the grins, see if you can try it in different sizes.

Also, print off some copies of the ski scorecard posted in the Gear Review section and keep good notes as you demo.
