. I think I am ready to move to a bit warmer socks. ( Minnesota winter is too cold). And advice on thin or ultra thin ski socks for small feet?
I vote for boot heaters and boot gloves! Socks, even the best merino wool, do little to keep you warm. I have ultra thin Smart Wool and Darn Tough socks and boot heaters/gloves are a must.

I ordered a pair, but even the extra small is too big for me. :-(. I used to wear kid large ski socks.
I take a kids' large in SmartWool! But I now prefer my silly kids' *medium* snow socks from Fox River. First ones that cover my calves completely without cutting off circulation at the knee, and don't have too much room in the foot. The larges are just a teeny bit long in the foot but fit my calves slightly better. Medium it is.

This weekend should be warmer, though!
