Deer Valley is celebrating its opening weekend with a celebrity ski race.
Which got me to thinking. Anyone here ever sight a celebrity on the slopes?
I'll be sure to keep you ladies posted. mmm, I wonder if Matt Damon skis? He should come here.
Also some hockey players are expected - probably the hurt ones.

Oh yeah. Being a Deer Valley wanna-be, I sometimes brave going up to Park City during Sundance. Last year we had an Uma Thurman sighting, the year before was Michelle Pfeiffer. My mom rode the lift with Owen Wilson (lucky). Apparently he's a telemarker (awesome!!) and he's pretty good.
Best celebrity sighting ever was a few years ago at Snowbird. We were in the Mineral Basin Express line and my friend said "is that Rob Lowe in front of us?" I couldn't really see his face, but it looked like a possibility. As we're riding up the lift, we kept trying to catch a glimpse of his face from the chair in front of us, and we came to the conclusion that it WAS Rob and his brother Chad, and Chad's kids. I was hoping for a Hilary Swank sighting, but she must have gone to the spa instead. :p
Anyways, as we were getting off the lift, we saw Rob totally snowplowing out of control barely being able to stop. He was wearing a high-waisted glittery coat right out of the 80's, rear entry boots, and a fuggin' black headband (it was cold, and it was definitely NOT spring, not like that's ever an excuse to wear a headband. Ugh.) He looked all glammed out, but he obviously could not ski worth a damn. Jodi and I just sat and watched, since he was looking mighty disoriented. Apparently he had lost Chad and the fam. He looked at us, my friend Jodi pointed in the direction they went, saying "That way." He thanked us and plowed away. We laughed for hours, and our husbands gave us endless grief for being such fangirls about it. I guess you gotta hand it to them for branching out from the Park City celebrity haven.
Oh, I forgot another one!! We saw Tommy Moe at the top of Glory Bowl on Teton Pass last year. Cool guy, and you gotta love an ex-Olympian kickin it in the backcountry.
Hillarious, we have alot of celbs that live here in the Valley with us. Huey is practically my next door neighbor. You kind of get used to it and quit paying attention, I don't even know who all lives here anymore, but they seem to be everywhere. I just quit paying attention. The celebs don't ski in our area though, sometimes Big Mtn, or Big Sky, but I think the stench of the outdated septic systems in the cold dirty cement basement bathrooms around here really turns them off or something. I do tend to see alot of the athlete types though. A good handful of them grew up here. It would be fun to see Rob gaping though, that is a good one, doubt I will get to see that around here. They come here to hide and generally do a pretty good job. Occasionally they will know someone you do and you will see them at a party or something, which of course is what they pretty much do best, and as such is pretty uneventful and not noteworthy like the headband incident.Oh yeah. Had NO IDEA ....
I've never seen anyone famous in Aspen or Telluride, but maybe this year might be the time I get on a lift with Oprah or Tom.
