Help Needed: Cataract lens options

I'm actually doing a lightweight compromise of both. I was struggling to get good reading vision without compromising my distance vision too much with the multifocal, so my right eye has a slightly lower reading prescription than my left eye, even though I've got multifocal lenses in both eyes
Is your multifocal a IOL or contact? If it is a Multifocal IOL, which one do you have? Do you ski Moguls? If you do, how is it skiing moguls with Multifocal?

Oh I just have contact lenses. Was just weighing in on my experience with monovision and multi focal lenses. I do ski moguls and do gymnastics with my multifocal contacts without issue.

Thank you for the information! I think the multifocal IOL have more depth perception and contrast issues than contacts. So I was worried the contrast issues and skiing moguls in all weather conditions.

I had my cataract surgery around 8-9 yrs ago, and opted for multifocal lenses -- they were fairly new on the scene at that time. First of all, since I had been unrefractable before the surgery, it was fantastic to not need glasses anymore! I really only "need" them in low light (restaurant) situations, and prefer them for the computer. I will say that my distance vision isn't great (golf -- arrgh!), and I do see some halos at night.
Hi - Do you ski moguls? How is that with the Multifocal lenses?

Hi - do you ski moguls ? How do the Multifocal lenses work on moguls and different light conditions?

Yes, I love moguls. I don't have any issues with depth perception or lighting. I use darker goggle lenses in bright sunlight, but ASA the shadows start showing up I tend to switch to my low-light lenses. The only issues I have with my lenses is not being able to follow a golf ball for very long distances.

Hi divas - wondering if any of you have had cataract surgery and, if you are comfy sharing what lens you got and issues you may have experienced like depth perception or contrast in flat light? Trying to pick a lens for my surgery. Thanks!
One of my eyes has a detached vitreous that didn't settle properly and so my vision in that eye is a bit blurry. For that eye, I had a distance lense put in since it didn't make sense to get a close vision lense or a multifocal for that eye. My other eye is healthy. So, I spent the extra money to get a multifocal lense and also laser correction. I am super happy with it. I can read without glasses. I have good vision in that eye both near and far. It is like being in my 30's again.

My cataracts are about there. My biggest issue with their progression is the outrageous halos at night. Noticeably worse. I was hoping cataract surgery would help, but it sounds like it could make things worse. Aaaakkkk! Anyhow it sounds like the safest bet is plain jane lenses and just keep my progressives. I am slightly nearsighted and have an astigmatism. With age close reading is also a thing.
