Cardona to become NZ's biggest ski area

Sounds like the other factor for combining the two areas is making it worth the money that was spent to build a chondola to the summit. The owners are clearly thinking long term. Will take a few years to get lifts on the Soho side. But in the mean time, cat skiing will continue and with double the skiable terrain that may well entice more people. Also important that the Soho terrain is a high altitude compared to more of Cardrona and is for advanced/experts.

Reminds me of how long it's taken for Squaw and Alpine to be connected. Or Big Sky and Moonlight (two sides of the same mountain). Although in those situations lifts were built when the two areas were owned separately.

Cardrona had days at Copper, Winter Park, and Steamboat as a perk for their 2017-18 premium pass. The Ikon pass incorporated Thredbo in Australia. Be interesting to see what happens with Cardrona/Soho for 2019.
