Calling all Bosu owners/users

How do you like them? Do you use them often?

I'm intrigued by them, but weary of plunking down the cash. I'm interested to hear how your Bosu ball works into your regular routine, how versatile you feel like they are, if you'd recommend getting one, etc.

Bosu Ball

Num~

While at Beaver Creek last we worked out every morning before heading out to ski. The trainer had us do various exercises on the bosu that really seemed to help with both balance and strength. One of the ski instructors said that she keeps it in her bathroom and does various exercises in the morning on it while getting ready! I ordered one from amazon just the other day. I'll let you know how it goes once I get it.

Gotta love multitasking; throw a few reps in while brushing teeth, I'm all for it ;)

How much are they going for on amazon?

I used the BOSU in a Pilates class that I took. The BOSU kicked my butt. We mainly used it to strengthen the core and increase stability.

I use my BOSU all the time for balance training. You can do about everything you can on a step + more. They sell a good ski specific DVD that can get you started.

I love the Bosu so much that I dedicated a whole chapter of my book to Bosu exercises for skiers. At my studio in Frisco, it is by far the most popular piece of equipment!

I am considering getting a Bosu to train with .... I would really like to see some feedback as to what kind of results everyone gets. Of course we won't be able to speak about it improving our skiing until next season...
but a few thoughts would be appreciated.

I love my Bosu. I bought the DVD Conditioning for Skiing and Snowboarding last year and started to use the Bosu to get ready for ski seasion. I was surprised at the improvement in my balance and core strength and the difference it made in my stamina. I use the Bosu once a week now just to keep in balance. You will enjoy one if you buy one.

Does size matter that much. I dont recognise the name Bosu ball, but I have a large 65cm rubber ball that you inflate. If thats the sort of thing you are talking about, then I use mine regularly after using the cross trainer.

I use it for stomach crunches as I find you really know you are doing them on the ball. There are endless exercises that can be done. They are good. I recommend them.

I tried a Bosu at my gym this week and think I will be getting one for home now! Jilly....I looked at MEC last time I was there and didn't see one , but could have missed it. I will check the website. I will also be ordering the ski DVD to go with it so that I can be in shape for the upcoming season....can hardly wait to ski again!

I have two stability balls in different sizes and a little thing called an XERDISC instead of a BOSU ball (since it was WAY cheaper.)

The XERDISC is like a stability ball but in a flattened shape, so you can stand on it. One side also has knobbies so it stays put on carpet. It's awesome for standing on it on one leg while washing dishes, folding laundry, etc.

I do want a BOSU ball though - we have one at my gym and I love it. One of these days I'll see one on sale and buy one of those too. The XERDISC is nice and cheap and easy to use, but it's smaller, so your feet have to be close together to both be on it. For one footed things it's great though. And it doesn't take much space at all.
