Those trees will be coming down in the first good blow - unless the beavers finish the job. I guess that's why their teeth are growing constantly!
When I worked as PR/fundraising person for a humane society, I also did some wildlife rehab. One of my most memorable animals was a beaver kit. I'd put him in the kitchen sink and he'd slap his little tail and "dive" four inches to the bottom. He made the most mournful sounds - like a child crying. Sadly, he died of pneumonia before he could be released, but every time I see beavers - or their signs - I remember him.
