Ski Diva Extraordinaire
So it was ski day number 4 on the season - some factors beyond my control have kept me from getting out as much as I might have liked so far this season but I've been trying to get the most out of the days I've gotten. This was our first ever trip to BW and we knew we were really pushing our luck going on what should be one of the busiest days of the season - Sunday on a long weeked at the begining of MA vacation week.
The conditions were great. We could feel that there was some ice under at points but for the most part just beautiful snow - almost hero snow, but not quite. No death cookies, no frozen corderoy, no slush. What was pleasantly surprising was that although the parking lots were packed the trails were surprisingly open and free of crowds. We had some liftlines, but the worst was maybe 15 minute wait for the main quad so I really can't complain.
The mountain has a ton of terrain but is definitely focussed on intermediate terrain. I would argue their blues are some of the mildest I've skiied and although I did not do so today (there was plenty to ski otherwise) I wouldn't think twice about going onto the black single-diamonds at this mountain. It has a pretty laid back attitude - more like a small family mountain than a 100+trail promote ourselves as a resort. This is nothing like Sunday River, etc. But as I said above you may not find as challenging of terrain. However if you want a laid back day on the slopes where you never have to ski the same run twice even if you're not an advance skier this is a good place to go. We plan to return here again after this experience and try out more of the terrain.

However Washington was in and out of the clouds all morning with the front approaching so the photos wouldn't have been great anyhow. I think I'm also partial to the view from Conway anyhow since thats the one I'm most well acquainted with. That whole region of NH is really beautiful to drive through. If you do go I would advise taking a side trip to the west - downtown Littleton is a really charming former mill "city" and the center of Bethlehem is just sweet. Also don't miss Sugar Hill with it's beautiful houses and views.
! I just love the whole region - one of my favorite places on earth.
