boot stretching

Every pair of boots I try hurts my right foot, for good reason. I recently had surgery to correct my little toe bunions and, while it has helped, it is not quite enough. There is still a lot of pressure on that area and another due to ongoing ankle/foot problems. Unfortunately, no one seems to know what I am talking about when I ask about getting the boot stretched/remolded. Does anyone know of a place or person who does this? I live in Las Vegas and suppose I would be willing to send my boot out or travel to have it done. Also, is it possible to do it yourself? I understand it is challenging, but might be worth a try.

I don't know of anything close to you, but the Reno/Tahoe area should have several competent ski shops who can perform this for you. It's really not a huge deal and can be done with a Dremmel tool, but just in case, I wouldn't recommend doing it yourself. When I had mine done, they had to grind through one of the rivets on the toe buckle, then re-rivet it. That's not something I would want to do....besides, a good shop will warranty their work....both workmanship and fit.

I wouldn't send it out, either. You need to be able to try it on many times during the process.
