Boot fitting dilemma

Diva in Training
Hi
I have so enjoyed visiting this website and reading what everyone has to say.
I would sincerely appreciate advice from my ski-sisters here:
The boots I bought last year were sold to me by a guy who did a shell fit and picked out some boots for me and I bought the ones that seemed to fit the best - I knew NOTHING about how a ski boot should fit. After skiing in them about 10 days, I know they are definitely too big. I went back to the shop to try to get them fitted better and the person who helped me that day said "I'm surprised Bill sold these to you - they seem too big"
(Bill also steered me away from the Head Dream Thang 10 boot, saying it was too advanced a boot for me...)
I want to take the too-big boots back to the store and get some kind of a refund, not all my money back, but some kind of store credit towards some other gear. DH says just let it go and write it off as an expensive learning experience. I say all I learned was not to trust the guys in outdoor stores to fit me for boots.
Any thoughts?

PS
I ended up buying a pair of last year's Dream Thang 10 for about 1/2 price on-line. I haven't skied them yet, but I have worn them around the house and they feel like they are made for my foot shape

Been there and talk to SkiMave about just this week too. Just because he did a shell fit etc doesn't mean he/they know what their doing. Ask other skiers, instructors, coaches and patrollers. These people are in their boots all the time. Where did you get your boots??? Which sales person? So far this year I've heard one name mentioned at a Tremblant shop 3X. This is tghe guy I'm going to next time!!

10 days is a long time on a pair of boots for trade/credit. But it doesn't hurt to ask at the shop. If its a no, ski swap, bulletin boards etc. Good luck.
