Question: BOA boots: anyone with personal experience?

There may be some early releases but we will know more in a few weeks.
I'm meeting with some folks in Seattle next week to go through lines of several brands and get more intel.
Any low volume high flex options this is happening with?? And if not, can you emphasize the myriad of people waiting for this option to become a reality lol? :bounce:

I’m very interested in getting new boots and am loving everything I’m reading about BOA system. I don’t have the time to go back and forth all season to get a fit corrected, but maybe it’s not even necessary to be concerned?

Maybe this question is for @SnowHot but how much work really needs to be done to a boot for someone with plain old feet with a natural arch and small ankle bone? Does every customer require major adjustments and multiple visits? Does it depend on the brand? Have you ever fitted for someone who needed one adjustment and they (and you) were fine with the fitting? To add, my boots are custom fitted and I’ve really had no issues with them until it was time to get new liners.

Caveat that obviously it depends on boots and feet, but @SnowHot fitted me with Salomon BOA boots last season and I seem to recall that one was fine right away and the other needed just minor tweaking for a pressure point. So it can happen.

I feel left out having feet that need no extra attention! I’ll be on the lookout for these new BOA’s. It’s time to get some better boots!

My feet are pretty easy too. I have a small bunion and high instep, but both of these things are easy if not ignorable by me most of the time.
As for finding a BOA Boot, If you find the right fit for you, go for it.

I've loved my present Atomic boots, (100 flex), but they're around 9-10 yrs old now, and I'm ready for a new pair that are maybe a bit stiffer, esp since my skills have progressed significantly in the interim. I have low volume, high arched feet, and have been very interested in the description of how the BOA boots allow for an even pressure while tightening, without those buckles over the instep. I was very disappointed in SKI Mag's boot review a few wks ago, which I thought was very incomplete, and completely left out BOA boots. I did just run across the Powder BOA boot review, though, which was very thorough.

I wanted to try them out last season, but was advised at BootDoctors that those that were available last season -- their first year -- tended to be aimed more at the mid-high volume fit, and suggested I wait. Now I've been reading reviews of the women's Atomic Hawx Ultra XTD 115, and they sound very interesting. I've also read that with BOA boots, it's possible to get a good fit even with a mid-volume boot.

So I'd be really interested to hear comments from anyone who has actually tried BOA boots, or fitted them (Paging @SnowHot ).
Ok my mom was in the same position 2 months ago. She got the BOAs and says that they are a game changer. I was told by my boot fitter that they are the future of skiing and significantly enhance performance. They also reduce injuries

I'm not sure what @Trailside Trixie 's fitter is reffering to but there is nothing about the BOA system that is less control. Any bootfitter with bold statements like that has made up their mind that BOA is not his jam.
From my experience, the fit concerns in the forefoot of a boot are addressed s bit better beause of BOA due to the microadjustability.

Somewhere else here I explained that I've been in three different brand BOA Boots,
Atomic HAWX Ultra XTD BOA - LV
Salomon Supra 115 BOA - MV
K2 Anthem 115 BOA - MV

The Atomic Ultra BOA is a similar fit to the other boots you're asking about.

I also have the LV Lange Shadow 115 which is not a BOA Boot.
I ski a lot of different boots to get a lot of different feedback.
IMHO you shouldn't buy a boot because of BOA but you shouldn't refuse to buy a boot because of BOA
Are they making the atomic ultra hawk in 22.5 with boa??

Since boot flex is different for different brands, it's hard to know what flex to get. I have Dalbello Asolo 95 and finally fit a bit better now that we put my Intuition dreamliners from my beloved Technica Inferno 100's into the Dalbello. I am very interested in a BOA boot. My size is 22.5 and narrow heel. Also petite and light weight if that makes a difference. Think my last two boots we needed to soften up by removing or twisting screw... or something.

And boot flex has more to do with anatomy/physiology than the skiers skill level.
If the flex is right then the flex is right.

One group of skiers who has a tough time with the first gen BOA are skiers with limited ankle ROM because of the opening of the throat of "some" BOA Boots.
Some are easier than others.

I may dabble with a little softer boot in the coming season and see how it works for me.

I like to dabble.
