Binding Heel Loose?

If you take your hand and twist the heel of your binding, should it move a little side-to-side? Or should it not move at all?

My heelpiece, which is a very simple, basic Marker, moves, and I am not sure if it should or not because it happens on both skis.

A friend's heelpiece (Rossignol) does not budge at all, so I am wondering if my Markers are coming loose. They are several years old.

If they are coming loose, can I just tighten them with a screwdriver?

I am not sure that your heel peice should move.I know that mine tend to get loose after skiing alot.I always have my bindings checked by a certified shop technician.Better safe than sorry!

I agree with tcarey. The model may have a diagonal release, but you say that the bindings has been around awhile, so I don't know. Have a tech check them out (with your boot!). Better safe then sorry right!

Until the last few years, I swore by Salomon bindings. I mean they were the first step in bindings, and they improved my life! But one day I was sitting on the chair and noticed that the ski was shifting back and forth as I wiggled my foot. Since then, I've had to keep an eye on those bindings and in fact finally had to replace them because they needed to be reset too often. I have the same problem on an older pair of skis as well. I'd get your bindings rechecked every year or every 50 days, whichever comes first.
