BIG storm starting - New England

It has started! :snow: :ski2::ski:
All of New England and most of the Northeast are going to get some significant snow out of this system (except for some mixed nasty stuff at coast). :yahoo:
Maine is slated for 14-24" -- even that minimum sounds VERY nice :becky:
DH is taking tomorrow off, and it could be a major white-knuckle 45 mile drive, as the winter storm warning is in effect until 7 a.m. Thursday here. (Ha, like that ever stopped him!)
Post-storm report pending!

It is coming down fast!! We may get 16-20" ... the "conservative" estimate is one foot! :yahoo: I cannot take tomorrow off... but I will be on the mountain on friday morning:ski3:
I wished have tuned my skis after last weekend:doh:

We're up to 6" here after only 4 hours, and the intensity is just starting to pick up. BIG ONE.
Hey, don't worry about tuning, ha - I don't think sharp edges are the rx for this stuff  Not sure if we're going tomorrow or Friday (obviously, TODAY is the day to be there....into tomorrow). But we do need the new snow, overall. And here it is! :snow:

Heh, we got MAYBE an inch overnight, which has since all been washed away by a really awesome wintry mix/cold rain. Silver lining: excuse to order pizza for lunch rather than walk around outside. The radar looks like we're just about done with the weather down here, though.

Enjoy the snow up there, ladies. Should be a great few days.

Rain over snow this morning here in PA. Now it's miserable and gray. I'm hoping that weather swings down to NY so that when I hit Gore of friday I can enjoy some of it. Looks like I'll miss the big one in NE by a few days but conditions should still be nice over the weekend when we're up there, and snow should be good for the Diva Day at Okemo on monday!

2 p.m. - 9" in western Maine mountains. Snow falling throughout the state, fairly heavily. Same system prevails in NH and VT, with off-shore changeover in Portsmouth and what appears to be a small corner of SW VT changing over. MA looks to be 85% mixed, northern 15% snow, per weather.com radar on zoom. Rain in Boston.

We're between 4 and 5" here North of the Lake. And not in the main storm area. I'm going to head home and hibernate!

Plenty of wet snow here, should change back to all snow and end early tomorrow morning. I'm skiing Okemo Friday and Monday, and Berkshire East on Sunday, and conditions should be great!

we've got at least 14" in the yard so far and it's still coming down. I'm a little ticked that the plow guy hasn't been here once today. This "waiting for the storm to end" just isn't going to cut it. I was gone til 3:30 and could barey get in the driveway. Chances are we won't be able to get out in the morning.

The great part of today was skiing from 9:30 - 3:00 with a short lunch break. No matter where I went on the mountain the snow was deeper than the last time. Amazing!

15" of "feathers" in the yard, 18" at Sugarloaf....and DH now plans to take tomorrow off...so OFF WE GO!
Ah, Swamp Dog, YOU GOT THE GOODS! Yeah!
Hopefully, we're hitting up a sufficiently big mountain on a weekday to catch a few untracked! :becky::becky::becky:

Ah, Swamp Dog, YOU GOT THE GOODS! Yeah!

as do you MSL, as do you!

Two of my favorite runs were closed today. I'm guessing that's so there will be ungroomed freshies in the morning. Does that sound right? I was so bummed to not be able to ski them today.

Fly in the ointment :( --
high winds forecast for tomorrow, which means many (if not ALL ) lifts won't operate.

BKH319 - make sure you get the deal at Jay. Everyone is a Vermonter this week. Locals lift ticket pricing.

Here's my walkway this morning. Looks like the Pillars of Hercules or something. If this is like last year's Wall o'Snow, it won't melt til May.

Postponed :mad2:
High winds materialized as predicted.
All lifts on wind hold (at least at Sugarloaf).
Might open later in the day?
Gusts to 49 mph!
Will preserve much terrain for.....TOMORROW! (head for windward side of the runs!)
Try, try again.....
Friday.

I think the official total around here is only 6". But it was enough to cancel many things. Back to normal today.
