Big Sky: Take Two?

I have a sudden interest in doing Big Sky but can't see the details of the trip as I've never posted. Forgive me for this string of 15 posts. Have you ever wanted to see Big Sky photos? This is your chance. Jackie

Who goes on these Ski Diva trips anyway? I just filed my papers to join Medicare, LOL. The joy of skiing never leaves you.

Also, one other snag as I consider Big Sky: this year I switched passes and took Epic for the first time and a Sugar Bowl pass. I live in Portola Valley, CA -- Silicon Valley, and hour south of SF. One can still buy the Ikon but sales close in two days. Not to tarry, then.

So, when I skied Big Sky in 2022 I stayed in an AirBNB in town. To make my blather worthwhile to others, I will post a photo of my food from a really great restaurant that is not at the slopes but in town: Michaelangelos.

Here's photo #1 of my AirBNB. It was not underpriced. It was a long drive to the slopes and in bad weather would have been an inferior choice. It did not have a kitchen, hence the restaurant.

I parked in the lot each day. The open-air truck brought me back and forth to the slopes. Kind of fun (in good weather).

They are currently still building the new tram? Or has it opened? I liked the Snow and many things about Big Sky. I did not like the long lines. The new tram will help. They were talking about it back in 2022. I thought it was to have opened sooner.

They had lots of nice, long groomers as you can see by the green dots. I think I took this skiing down at the end of the day.

Big Sky had a lot of bumps too, though. I'm pretty sure this is where I took a bump lesson. This woman with me in the foreground is from China but did her advanced degree from Brown (PhD). We had a great time tearing down the hill. Instructor was stuck behind with a guy who kept coming out of his bindings. Please note I am 61 in this photo. You can try your hand at bumps at any age. I am now a solid blue skier, skiing since I was 8 with a break of 25 years while raising my kids (my husband can't ski).

Me. Jackie. Yes, I was plenty warm in my longer down jacket but they say this place gets bitter cold.

Wow. I'm a certified Diva now. And I didn't even finish my posts...! Ok, thanks for indulging me and allowing me to attain this new status so that I can see the Big Sky trip details. And don't forget: you can always stop in Bozeman after Big Sky. A super town. I liked this restaurant called Jam. Btw, I went on this trip on my own. I simply booked an AirBNB and went to SFO and flew to Bozeman and rented a car. Some people are hesitant to go alone -- not I. But think of how much better some Diva company could be. - Jackie, Portola Valley, CA

Wow, I love this string of posts so much! I'm new to Ski Diva, too. I managed to get to 15 so I could see the Big Sky threads by commenting here and there on stuff others had posted. I need a new ski community because my ski partner til now has been my son and he is too old and too busy to ski with his mom anymore. He'll be in Cancun with a dozen college friends when I'm at Big Sky! But anyhow, I'm 62 and I've just begin really tackling bumps recently, too. Staying in a hotel called Gravity Haus in Meadow Village. It's not cheap but definitely less expensive than other places I found (except one so far away I was afraid of driving to and from in bad weather). They said there's a shuttle to the slopes, which are about 10 minutes away, and that a car isn't necessary, but that it could be nice to have one. Still haven't decided on that. See you in March!

Hi Robin. I just took a quick look at a mountain map as I'm rusty on this. It's a really big place. I think shuttle is best. The way I usually ski out of state is to watch the weather and then find an AirBNB and drive to the airport and fly out. I always avoid the bad weather that way. But as I recall, this is a pretty dicey drive in if you hit weather. I think the shuttle sounds good. I've stayed at Gravity Haus in Tahoe which is nice -- nicely appointed rooms and a good restaurant -- but a bit too close to a busy road for me (noisy). But this should be quieter. So ..... I guess everyone does not stay at the same hotel? I need to poke around and get details now that I can.
