Bibs or pants

I'm a recent convert to bibs. I live in Canada (East Coast, close to Vermont) and find the bibs are warmer and less restrictive than pants. I almost don't notice I'm wearing them, versus feeling my waist constricted when I'm on/ getting off the chair lift. Super comfy, no need for belts. I have Trew Gear Trillium bibs, which have straps that don't detach (you have to put them over one side of your head to put the bibs on) and a long double side zip to make bathroom breaks easy - unzip from the side and they open up as you squat! No need to undo your jacket at all. Trew Gear do insulated as well as non-insulated shells, if you're worried about getting too hot. I chose insulated because it's always cold where I ski, but they're still really light, and they also have great ventilation zips. For me the comfort and warmth won me over, and if you're concerned about them looking flattering or not - it makes no difference once you have your jacket on
I've worn pants for many years, but one of my besties recently switched to Trew Gear Trilliums. I love the way they've made it easy to use the restroom without undressing. I also love their inclusion of Recco reflectors. I plan to buy from them when I destroy my current pants.

I was solely a pants person until I got the flylow siren bibs for the backcountry. I haven't worn pants since. The breathe well and not full bibs so you don't overheat. Last season I found a pair of flylow Kimberly bibs for 60% off and love them for resort days.

Ugh I love the fit of the Siren so much, and I wish they made the same pant with a burlier fabric for alpine. I find the cut more relaxed through the hips than the Moxie which is my regular downhill pant(I dont think this is just the stretch of the fabric but the actual cut) and I love the height of the front panel. If anyone from Flylow is reading this, MAKE THIS PANT IN A DOWNHILL VERSION PRETTY PLZ

I wear REI First Chair GTX (sort of bibs?) that don’t cover the boobs, have a zipper in the front for she-wee, and the seat can flap open without removing my jacket. Bonus is thigh pockets big enough for a pb&j. I love them.

Send Flylow feedback! They listen. It may not come right away, but if they get enough demand, they definitely change things based on customer feedback.

Love them too! It looks like the new version they changed the leg pockets and they don't look as useful. Why did they change them?

Once I tried bibs I never looked back. So much more comfortable for my body shape, and I find them cute too. I usually buy them lightly used in consignment websites.

Bibs all the way.

Most of my jackets are cut quite short so I can wear a harness with them for glacier travel. This means that they tend to ride up while sitting on lifts - bibs prevent the cold gap. However, I also find them much more comfortable.

I always buy shell bibs and I buy them quite baggy - this enables me to alter the amount of insulation depending on whether I am skiing off lifts or skinning. This means that they tend not to be too bulky.

My current pair (Patagonia Snowdrifter) are a soft stretchy fabric above the waist and are super comfy! I also find that access for necessities is relatively easy in these and I don't usually need to remove my jacket.
