Best Ski Movies?

I haven't been to a Warren Miller movie in a couple years, primarily because the last one I saw ("Off The Grid") just didn't do it for me.

Which leads me to wonder -- what are the best ski movies out there? Anyone have any favorites they'd like to share?

I know I'm in the minority here, but I really enjoyed this year's Warren Miller movie. Not sure why. I think part of it is that I'm really getting into the park segments a lot more.

SkiNet did a top 10 list a few weeks ago, though I haven't seen any of these except Playground:

What I did see last year that was really good was Steep:
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt1003118/

It's a documentary about the beginnings of big mountain skiing, and it was a nice change from the Warren Miller-style ski movies that don't really have any storyline and are just like "let's watch these amazing people ski while we play some badass music." I mean, that's great, but it was nice to watch a ski documentary for a change.

I also keep meaning to buy this:

I love the trailer.

Man. I LOVED Off the Grid. This year's wasn't as great, only because there really wasnt any Warren narration. =( I'm becoming a fan of Level 1, and Matchstick anything.

High Life - TGR - The Jackson segment in that video always makes my heart race. Awsome soundtrack.

Seven Sunny Days - MSP - I'll never forget the day my chick crush on Ingrid Backstrom began.

Waiting Game - Wink, Inc. - Just great, it had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

TGR - Soul Purpose. Great lines, locations, athletes and an amazing soundtrack. I'm constantly running it on my iPod ..... The entire movie just mellows me out and makes me so happy

I rented Steep a couple of weeks ago and loved it. I can't get into Warren Miller anymore, either,

We've been watching the MeatHead films movies. Saw Radio Ron skiing bumps down Agony at Sunday River last spring - lol. It's hard to just watch endless WM type stuff on terrain you never seen in the East, so I devour the Meathead movies because they seem real. Don't have their newest though. Also love seeing my home mountain. Hubby can watch any/all, any time of year, endlessly...

I really loved last year's Warren Miller, Playground. I think it's my favorite. This year's movie didn't really do it for me... it's almost like it was the Johnny Mosley show and there just wasn't enough skiing. There were some good segments... but Children of Winter wasn't the best.

Ski School is a classic if you need some good college-days laughs.

I love Steep; I've seen it at least 5 times (bought DVD).

Not a big Warren Miller fan so maybe that's why I liked Children of Winter better. Liked the segment on mtn biking; the band, sailing....not so totally ski oriented...but I wouldn't see it more than once.

What? No one's yet mentioned the hilarious "Better Off Dead" with John Cusack? (hmmm, guess I just did!)

Better Off Dead is a huge fave! :D

Winter Break
Out Cold
Soul Purpose
Wanderland (Meatheads)

I'm really enjoying the local-aspect of the Meathead films. Feels so much more attainable, KWIM? Don't get me wrong; I like watching the TGR films we have. But Meatheads stuff seems like maybe someday, I could do that, too.

Seven Sunny Days - MSP

From this year's movies I've only seen Turbo (Level 1) and Claim (MSP). The first one I don't really like - yet, maybe ther will be a change till the end of the season. Claim I absolutely like, except the song in the beginning :fear:, but really well done

one thing I have to add: it's a pity that only one female skier is in the movie (Ingrid). She does a great job but I was hoping that they will bring more than 2 after SSD

I also really liked "Steep". I really liked that it was more of a documentary on mountaineering than a huck fest.

I do usually see all the Warren Miller movies, just to get in the mood. It all fits in there with reading the all of the gear issues from the ski magazines and bookmarking the weather reports! It's just another way to get excited about the season!

I really like the MSP files, especially Push and Seven Sunny Days. Mostly because I think Ingrid Backstrom rocks, and would love to be able to ski like her.

I also like Waiting Game by Wink, Inc.
