I've been dying to know what you got out of the ESA Academy!!

When you have time, spill it!

Epic Ski Academy

Although the weather was warm, the visibility variable, the snow alternately sticky and icey, the weekend was great! I was really focusing on forward rising of the body, turning the knee and ankle down to the snow for the turn and lowering the center to my solar plexus. As Weems says, "look for the entry, not the exit, have a hunger for the fall line, and Make the G.D. turn!"

The skiing was hard on the legs and very tiring but exhilerating and far exceeded expectations, given the weather.

From the Diva Side of ESA:
I had a ton of fun skiing with SkiDiva's from Friday through Monday.
YES! Only two of us stuck it out until Monday.
Margaritamarcia, and ME!

Kudos goes out to Stowe Mt for going above and beyond to make this weekend as great as they could, baring help from Mother nature.

Friday was spring skiing conditions and awesome fun with divas.
Thatsagirl, SkiDiva and I talked about how sad it was that we didn't spend a ton of time together but there were so many new faces of people we all really REALLY wanted to spend time with.
Saturday the visibility was worse but the skiing was better, with moments of (as Jeb put it) Edge Deep Powder....Whooo Hoooo!
Sunday things came together for me. My legs were no longer fatigued(thanks to Benny at Bootworks). I started to really GET what he was saying.

Our group(Jeb's) was fortunate enough to connect a few times with Weems group(Margaraitamarcia and Lola included), and Bob Barnes Group.
*Figures Weems would have two of the three Ski Divas in his group ;)

Apres' Ski was a blast. The Coaches were profound. The SkiDivas were a ton of fun.......LOLA, you are the BEST!
If I were to sum it up in one word it would be Humbled.
I was humbled in the presence of these profound people, from the attendees, to the instructors. Great attitudes, great skiing and great social activity. When you find the quality of Character in a group as we had at ESA Stowe, it really makes you stop and think about how you are a tiny part of a great thing.

Monday: Well, the slopes were a bit more on the icy side. But we made the best of 3 hrs of skiing before I had to head back to the airport.
Those in attendance were Bob, Marcia, Chris, Colin, David(aka charlie) Tricia, and Benny the bootfitter!

Marcia, it was great skiing with you on Monday. I was feeling the Luv!

SnowHot....it was great to ski Monday with you. I couldn't agree more about the caliber of coaches and students. A great peeling away of the onion layers, yes? What a great gift we gave ourselves and was given to us by this fine group. You really should try to make it to Aspen! And YES, I was having as much fun as I looked like i was having!

Well, certainly I got alot of great memories. Fun skiing, fun friends, fun divas - what more can I say? Oh yes, my instructor - Weems - was just fabulous!

I did learn a few things . . .

Skiing on the sides of my feet, helps me to edge better. I realized that I do often ski with flat feet, probably because I am very flat footed, and off the snow, I feel stable on flat feet. But, on skis, I am actually more stable when I ski on the sides of my feet.

I learned that my skis are good, but I need more practice to get more consistent in carving from one turn to another. I sometimes cut to my next turn too quickly without carving into it.

I learned that if I am more patient in the bumps and instead of cutting my next turn off, I can accelerate a little and carve from one bump to another.

Finally, I learned that I can breathe and feel centered on the slopes with my eyes open!

Ah, yes, and I learned that I really enjoy having skiing friends!

So that's my report. Batgirl, where is your report?

Aspen! Hmmmm. seems that Aspen is the one place where several of the Bears will be meeting up again, but its closed now. Something tells me that I could volunteer to be a videographer.;)

Doesn't that photo look like it's 5 pm, instead off 11 am?

SnowHot,
I have no recollection of that photo being taken with Weems, Lola and me, and another person who I can't really see through the dark fog. Thanks for posting all the photos, though.

Re: Aspen......is it really totally closed up to the max. I bet you could get Weems to squeeze you in somehow someway. Do it.

Sorry, ladies. I'm slammed at work and have been trying to get last minute Christmas stuff done at home. I've only had time for short posts here and there. I'll try to get to it tonight. In the meantime, there's a quick recap from me over on the Counting the Days thread.

Well ladies I was waiting for someone to send me the pics from the banquet.
We had a few awards, such as cutest couple(Margaritamarcia and her lovely husband Bob), Best ESA yard sale(I think EMS), Best Krypton impersonation(comprex) and a special award that was given to me thanks to the efforts of our very own Lola.
See, I had never skied outside of Michigan until I went to Stowe for ESA, Lola found this great tshirt(which I have worn since I've been home)
Thanks for your thoughtfulness lola(phil too!)

Yep and you can find all kinds of Ski Michigan gear here.

Did Ski Diva tell you about the gift I gave her? From the same place? You can find more Ski Diva gear here.

Now Lil, Wendy and I all have SkiDiva sweatshirts/hoodies. Anyone else want SkiDiva wear? If Santa didn't bring you everything you wanted, maybe it's time to take things into your own hands? :D

Hang on to your hats, divas. I'm going to check out Cafe Press myself so we can have our own stuff with TheSkiDiva.com on it.

Stay tuned.
