Basewax? Liquid Wax?

Does anyone use basewax? Does it really make your wax last longer?

I was wondering whether I should use basewax when I wax our skis before our trip.

How do you keep your skis waxed while on vacation? Basewax? Liquid wax? (I'm a little hesitant to use liquid wax, although I have no reason to I've never used it)

Or do you entrust your skis to a ski shop and hope they're ready for first tracks?

I use a base wax that I got from Alpinord on Epicski
Slidewright has some awesome products for this if you're interested in talking to them, you'll find that they are a tremendous wealth of information.

That being said.
I use a base wax that is pretty hard, which is also a bit more difficult to apply, but then it holds up well with lighter applications of temp/snow specific waxes that are easier to use while you're on your trip.
I use the Slidewright liquid wax then brush and cork, for easy application while on a vacation.

I've got a shop that I trust with my skis. They go every 6 or 7 days and are tuned and hot waxed. So my suggestion is to find that kind of place. I'm out of touch as to who is in your area anymore. (Moved away too long ago.) If you're skiing Collingwood, Squires?? As for liquid wax. I've used Swix's Easy Glide in the spring. Also if there is one more day - I'll slide it on, then get them in for some TLC. I'm working on not needed to tune every 5 days. So------
