Bad ad

I'm a new member on the Ski Diva, and I just logged in to post for the first time and saw a "Google Ad" for something to the effect of "beautiful women to ski with you and party with you in Europe." Ick. My personal preference would be to try to get that ad blocked from this site, I'm guessing that not too many of the members are in the market for that sort of service. Once again, ick.

Other than that this looks like a great forum!

Welcome, Ice Queen! Glad to have you here!

Yeah, I've had some difficulty with those Google ads, too. They get fed in automatically, so we have very little choice about what we get. I've complained to Google about some of them, and you can, too -- most of them have a spot where you can click on to leave feedback -- but so far, it hasn't done any good.

My ultimate objective is to get some site specific advertisers, in which case we could eliminate the Google ads altogether. Hopefully, that will come in the future. It'd be a great way to help support the site.

All the same, I hope some distasteful advertisements won't discourage you from posting. We've got some terrific members and some fabulous talk about skiing going on. So please give us a chance.

SkiDiva - I would have to agree, but most of the time I ignore those. At "the insider" we have it set up that for a small fee, the ads are gone for awhile. During the Tremblant strike last year, a group of us paid to get rid of the Tremblant ad's during the strike because we were so pissed at the place. I know that TJ wants to talk to you about using his Pro-boards. I still like this set up better.

Thanks for the welcome Ski Diva! Maybe I'll just let Google know that they're wasting their time advertising on a women-only web site and they ought to try to get that one out of the rotation!

The adds don't really bother me. In fact, I think they are very tame in comparison to some other sites. Its a small price to pay for a free forum.
