Backcountry Ski Setup for New Skier

Neha Khurana

Hey all!

I am new to this forum, but thought I would come here for some advice. I am a fairly new skier and skied one season on greens/blues at the resort. I have only spent one day backcountry skiing, so not totally sure what I want yet. This winter, I am taking a Backcountry Skiing course in the Tetons through my college. I am looking to invest in an AT setup (skis, boots, and bindings). I am looking for something that is lightweight and moderately priced (willing to pay more for good quality though). I am 5'1" and 100 pounds. The skis I have used in the past have been too long for me, and am looking for something appropriate to my height and ability. I am a more timid skier and don't anticipate shredding black diamonds in the BC.

Recommendations for skis and boots for an introductory backcountry skier would be awesome! Thanks for your help!!
