I'm back! I had the BEST day at Sugarloaf!!The weather was PERFECT: sunny, NO WIND, 40+-. People were out tanning at "the Beach" at the base.
Ace bandaged my left calf (over the CW-X compression tights, which ROCK, btw), put a patellar stabilizer on my right knee, and off we went.
Okay, staying away from my favorite terrain was a bear. Here's how it looked:
Conditions softened to "near-corn." I behaved myself and stayed on mostly blues. Okay, okay, I cheated. I did one black. But it's rated that primarily due to its width, not pitch. Far and few between are bluebird, windless days at Sugarloaf - so that just added to the sheer joy of the day.
After 3 hours and one short coffee break, my knee was tired, and so was I. I sent DH back up the summit to hit it hard for a few runs.
Set-up has begun for the medals presentations for the U.S. National Alpine Championships, which begin on Saturday with the men's and women's downhill. Hope to get up there to see some of the races, which go all week.
Views in one direction all the way to Mt Katahdin, and in the other, Mt. Washington.
Fantastic!
I'M BACK!
(----and seriously glad that I stayed put to let this problem settle down)
