It's a shame it has to be a science.
Actually snow farming is as much an art as a science. Just as medicine is.

In the southeast and midwest, without snowmaking starting in the 1950s and 1960s, there wouldn't be skiing at all in most of the ski resorts that still exist as of 2022.

Agree that the fact that Taos and other destination resorts in the west now need to rely more heavily on snowmaking to insure a profitable season is a function of climate change. However, the ski industry has continually had to adjust to assorted changes in interests and other realities in the last 50 years.

I like that Taos, Aspen, and other major resorts are actively supporting efforts to be more efficient from energy and carbon generation standpoints.

Good point. I don't think I ever really respected the snow making process as I should have. I have usually only grumbled that it wasn't happening fast enough. But as the videos you have shared before show, there's so much involved, certainly.
