We just got back from road tripping in Arizona whicih was fun. Hit up Tucson, Sedona, & Phoenix/Tempe.

Wow! What sort of work you do that get to spend 3 weeks in Italy??? ;)
I don't have long vacation plans in summer. I don't usually take long vacations in summer. Summer is the best season in Northeast so I stay put to enjoy it as much as I can.
Lots of long weekend trips though. Probably some island camping by kayak, either in Long Island Sound or the Hudson. Maybe the Mountain Bike festival in Lanesboro, MA. Probably a trip up to Canada somewhere (Montreal?). Then "leaf-peeping" hikes in the White Mountains come Sept/Oct. That's pretty standard of my "off-season" plans of (many) years past.
Probably a sight-seeing trip to Central Europe or Middle East for either Thanksgiving or Christmas.

I'm a nanny for two children ages 3 and 6. Part of my work agreement is that I will expose the children to different cultures and experiences. The Father of the children spent about 10 years living in Italy so it is important to him that the children spend time there every year. I'm hoping he can meet the children & I over there at some point. His insights and knowledge of the hidden treasures is always a delight.
I know it's so rough. :D
Now Nantucket is another story...it is great for a couple of days but after that the island is way too small for me!
Smuggler's Notch in late July/early August for a week with our 4 kids, and a few days in NYC with 2 of my kids in August, visiting family. Maybe camping with my hubby for a weekend in August. Saving all time off and travel funds for ski season!:D

My daughter is getting married in July, so travel plans (personal) are downsized to:
Jackson Hole -- annual Memorial Day trek. This year, we will visit my chef son working in Jackson Hole----a special treat this year since he's been in Boston for four years an just this year returned to his Western roots.
Montana -- Big Hole camping trip to ancestral fishing grounds, our annual roughing it, sleep on the ground, get real grungy, pack own food in trip. Last year a griz family made a visit to our camp (we layed awake rest of night, but were awake to hear the coyotes at dawn).
No-name place in Wyoming -- secret outback hiking trip to an unnamed canyon (shhhhh). It's one of the last places we know we can be truly alone for a day or two.
In short----close to home car trips.
Next year----Sardinia and Corsica, we hope.

I would love to know if it's changed much. You would go through these tiny, old villages with women wearing black, sitting by expansive fields and hilly roads with stone houses, then no houses or villages for miles until the next hamlet.
