Are you planning on buying new skis for the 07-08 season?

And if so, what do you think looks interesting? And what are you looking to replace (or add to)?

I bought some new 185 Praxis. (like Spatulas, but lighter.) They should be arriving in the mail in the next few weeks. Can't wait!!

Nah. Bought two during the summer. That's ONE more than I EVER owned. So at least not "planning to" buy any more...

But, if either one of them failed to live up to the expectation. (I demo-ed, but not in all condition I expect to use them) I might end up buying replacements, accompanied by selling the ones that doesn't perform. Since I bought both of them at 50+% off, I expect to be able to unload them easily if need be.

Needless to say, I didn't read any of the thread about 08 gears.

I bought a pair of '08 Solomon Mynx twin tip skis and had them center mounted for park play. They are the same as the '07 Mynx with a nicer graphic.:p

I got a pair of Head IM 88s in March, and I LOVE them , even though I did not get that many days on them last season.

When I got to Utah I had a pair of Atomic Sugar Daddy skis welcoming me to my new home, and they are set up with a pair of touring bindings. It is a goal for this year to try some backcountry (or more likely side country).

I still see skis that I would love to have. A girl can't have too many skis, right?

BushwackerPA posted about your IM88's on Epic. He's just sure all women will become profound skiers on those now!

I have purchased a few pair of skis. My dilemma is trying to figure out if a 08 ski purchase in April, is for 08 or still 07...........hmmm?
There are 4 08 skis added to my quiver, three of which were in the past 45 days.
Tcarey will be happy to know I bought new poles!

I bought myself a pair of Queen Attivas at the end of last season. Haven't tried them yet (yep, bought without demoing. But the price was too good to pass up) so I'm dying to ski them.

I also bought Mr. SD a pair of Snoop Daddy's for his birthday in September. Can't wait to see him on those, too!

My son-in-law sold me a pair of Queen Attivas also. They were suposed to be for Lola but he has something else in mind for her.

I have IM88's too - I think I got them in about February. They're really great for everyday use around here.

I bought the Head iM82s on sale this past summer. I demoed them last winter and liked them a lot. Now I just have to have the bindings mounted and I'll be ready!

Its really quite amazing the difference that they made in my skiing. Last year was the first year I demoed skis. When I was on the IM 88s and the Atomic Metron M11s (the other pair I was going to get), I was more confident, could ski faster, and felt so much more stable in crud, ice, etc. I also got them in a longer length (160ish) as opposed to my 152 cm carving skis. I guess I just found the right ski for me.

My husband was excited because I can keep up with him better now. Maybe they just gave me more confidence, and my brain finally caught up with my abilities, but whatever it was they made a HUGE difference.

I'll be buying new ski's this year also. Since last year was my 1st back on snow for soo many years off, I bought the demo True Luvs I had skied in most of the winter, $150. I just couldnt pass it up. Now w/new boots & everyone's advice on demoing, I'm making my list & will have fun doing the demo thing this winter. But at least I have a good boot now, reliable ski's & poles & can just hit the hill for fun regardless.

I totally agree. The ski for you is the ski for YOU!!
We all like different properties in a ski.
I really don't like Rossi's but if a person asks for a ski that is stable and damp, I'd recommend them because that is their tendency.
I like a ski with some POP!

I snapped up some K2 Apache Outlaws from Evogear. New, but two seasons' back model -- $357. I own some XP's and some Recon's, each with > 140 days on them, that I'll use at the beginning of the season until I get my ski legs back and my "head". The Outlaws right now look huge compared to what I am used to, but everyone who I've asked loved them and I figured that the only thing wrong with my Recons (which I love) was that once the snow got over the boot cuff, it was clearly the wrong ski.

172 Line Elizabeths
175 Praxis (they haven't arrived yet)

I tried the Elizabeths out in New Zealand. At first they felt pretty long, but the more I skied them the more I liked them. The Praxis haven't shown up yet, but I'm excited to try them out.

Yes,
I've not done my research yet, but last year my very old bindings had a blow out, still somewhat useable, but this is my excuse to buy new skiis and bindings. I found this site starting my research....on skiis. My equipment is old and outdated, I have stiff, 180's, with very sharp edges. I know exactly how my equipment will react on any type of snow/ice condition and mountain, which gives me extra confidence especially if its bad conditions or I can't see. I also ski with my snowboarding girls and need to be able to stop or turn on a dime, as well as get out of my skiis, to help them if needed. So I'm fairly apprehensive about new equipment this year.
