Anyone have an iPhone?

After all the hype, the news reports say the iPhone isn't selling up to expectations. So I was wondering -- does anyone have one? And what do you think?

Looks pretty cool to me. Just awfully expensive.

I see one major problem with the iphone
AT&T Exclusive!

Its an awful expensive piece of hardware with an exclusive contract with AT&T for FIVE years.
That limits them to people who have AT&T already, or people who can easily switch their phone service.
Top that with the price and they've eliminated a huge part of the population.
Dumb!

My sister has one....and it really is fantastic! She showed it to me at dinner the other night, and I forgot to eat! :D

I'm going to wait until the price comes down a bit, and some of the glitches are worked out!

I also understand that the batteries are not replaceable so you have to mail in the iPhone if you need a new battery.... Who wants to be without their cell phone for a week for that process? So it then becomes a throw away product ripe for replacement with the latest gadget. It amazes me that Apple sponsored the Live Earth concert with their throw away/replace marketing strategies for the iPod and iPhone. However, I confess that my husband and I own 3 mac laptops in addition to 2 PCs, and between he, me, and our 5 kids, we own 7 iPods. And he has 12 shares of Apple stock.:D

I am a true Apple-phile. I bought my first computer in 1984 -- an Apple IIc, with a green screen and everything -- and have used Apple products exclusively ever since. The company is a true innovator, with products that are both well designed and especially user-friendly. I agree that the iPhone is way too expensive, has battery problems, and ties you into a phone company you might not want to use. But I think this is just the beginning. I'm dying to see where they go from here.

I agree with Snowhot regarding the AT&T exclusivity. We are Verizon users because Verizon has the best coverage. We don't want to switch to At&T. I think that limits the I-phone and could cost many customers.

I love Apple, and I think the iphone is awesome, but I just don't really want one. I'm already in front of a computer most of the time (how sad!), so I don't really feel like I need the internet in my pocket the rest of the time. Plus, I also am really happy with verizon service-wise.

My husband really wants one, though, so I have a feeling there will be an iphone in our house before too long. I think his contract is up in august (at least he hasn't gotten it in his head yet that he wants to pay the early termination fee to get one NOW ;) ).

I'm also a life-long Mac-phile, and Verizon Wireless/Bell Atlantic Mobile customer for nearly 10 years now (yikes), but I won't touch the iPhone because it's on the AT&T network and too expensive.

My ideal mobile device would be able to 1) be a phone; 2) sync with an electronic calendar (I've never owned a Palm or anything, but I use Google Calendar and iCal to keep track of my running stuff); and 3) be an MP3 player AND be able to use to listen to podcasts. I don't know how many of the Verizon users here have phones that can double as MP3 players, but I was disappointed to find that Vcast is not compatible with iTunes. Among other things, music that's purchased from iTunes is not in MP3 format, and there are several steps one must undertake make a music file from the iTunes store format to an MP3. I suspect that it is a licensing issue with Apple: perhaps Apple won't make music on iTunes compatible with Vcast so that the iPhone (or iPod) is the only way one can access one's iTunes library.
