Anyone ever do the mountain spa thing?

Someone asked me about this lately, and I've never done it (I'm always too busy skiing!). But maybe someone else has? Or had a good experience at a spa near a mountain?

Like you Ski Diva, I myself haven't, but I know of those who have. Usually its a good experience. At Tremblant there a number of full service spas and the Spa Scanadive - hot pools and massage. Every year we get one free access to the hot pools with our season pass, but never can seem to get there as they pull that at certain times only, ie not busy, middle of the week, by December 20!!
I do hit a local spa here once a year. A girl friend and I enjoy a day of pampering at Ste Anne's in Grafton. Expensive, but really good!

I always talk about using the spa at the resort, but never actually do it.
Too busy socializing and skiing.
There have been days, when I've though it would be good to have a massage after skiing all day, but the social butterfly in me takes me to apres' ski and socializing rather than the masseur.

Spa is one of those relaxation I'm sure I would likely to enjoy, if only I'm not too busy with DOING things myself.

Like lounging about on a warm Sunday, if only I have the time. And the maximum enjoyment will be derived when one has the right state of mind, which is "I'm determined NOT to do anything but relax"!

Message in general, I always like. Just paying for it part I'm less sure of. Not that I can't afford it occasionally, just don't feel strongly enough either way -- the enjoying part or the paying part. So, when time allows, which is rarely, I allow myself. But most often, I just GO for a ski/hike/bike... You get the idea.

Spa days are best done on days without competing activities (parties, weddings, graduations, powder, fresh corduroy, mid-week no tourists no lines ski days). A day like today! I could see the mountains on the way out and back... not enough snow left to be distracting, grey sky, no century ride, no family obligations, no distractions. Facial, massage, body scrub, wrap, steam sauna, dry sauna, vapor caves, hot springs, pool... life is good! Every time I go (at least 4x/yr) I swear I will go more often. Doh! In town = maintenance. Resort/mtns = spa. My favorite spas are in Vail, Glenwwod Springs, Hot Sulphur Springs, Steamboat, and Hilton Head. No mountains on or near Hilton Head, but they rock the spa!

The fitness center in our building at Kirkwood has a hot tub, steam room, dry sauna, as well as Massage by Appointment. I've not had a massage there, but do use the others. One time the massage guy even put some nice smelly stuff in the Steam Room for us! What a sweetie! Aaahhh, very relaxing.
