Any Dynastar Ski Reviews

Hi - I'm looking to replace my older Dynastar S9 racing skis. These are 195's; heavy but quick. Any advice on carving all mountain skis out there? I currently sking on Volkl S5 in 161's and enjoy them. I prefer a heavier ski with good edging especially on the icy conditions and cabbage patch conditions at Mt.:ski2: Alyeska. Thanks!

I don't think heavy is what you need. Torsional stiffness for ice. Volkl's are good on ice. Also the Rossi Oversize 9X. It's a tuned down race ski.

The women's line of Dynastars tends to be VERY light in weight. You might want to try a unisex if you like this brand of ski (as do I). Otherwise, the possibilities are endless for you. I'm currently (or was) skiing on a Dynastar Ski Cross (not women's specific), lots of guts, quick, love it (not in off-piste or pow, it's a carver).

I haven't skied it myself but based on the rave reviews its gotten from a number of other divas here, you might want to try the Nordica Olympia Firefox.

Welcome, by the way, L-AK. Have you read through some of the gear review threads yet? Lots of good info available there. Hopefully, the Volkl crew will chime in - lots of Volkl love here.

If you're liking the energy of your S5, you'll LOVE the Fuego! It's a high energy carving machine that's super versatile.

If you prefer a calmer version that's just as meaty and fun, check out the Nordica Olympia Firefox.

In either ski, I'd suggest you stay with the 160ish although they both can be skied as short as 154 while still remaining pretty stable.
My review of both HERE

Hi - I thought the Fuego was the latest model replacement for the S5. I do like the S5 ski - its fun and fiesty I'm new to this forum so I'm handicapped on reading your attached threads. Although I have picked up a great amount of data here and very thankful. I am very interested in demoing the Nordica line (I can demo the Conquera and Victory models this weekend), Volkls as well as Rossi's. Unfortunately there are no Dynastars available for demo in Anchorage or at Mt. Alyeska resort. I have to do my research and buy online site unseen and untested. Many thanks to my fellow Divas.

If you like heavy, stiff, midfat, holds an edge, will do pow and crud, you might consider the K2 Lotta Luv. I've heard good things... Anyone with more experience on that ski care to comment??

Hi Climber Girl - I haven't tried the K2 line yet. I have stayed mostly with Dynastars, Volkls and Rossis. I will look into if the K2 Lotta Luv is available to demo. Many thanks.

Dynstar Exclusive Legend

I am a advanced/intermediate level and like off piste powder. These skis are an all mountain mid fat 75 under foot and they will do anything for me. Skied this morning in low light, yuck and my skis always know the way down!! The cut into crud and like powder ( I am in Utah) they are lighter weight and I am on a 158. It was ice in spots and I felt stable. I demoed them 2 years ago and this is my second season on them. I love them.

Hi and thanks bwclemenger - I have read some good reviews on the Exclusive Legend. There are a lot of deals out there on skis now and I am just tempted to buy online..

Best prices I have seen online is:
https://www.sierrasnowboard.com/Dynastar-Exclusive-Legend-Womens-17815.asp

50% off.
Powder (wider) also available at similar savings.
I love this ski, wish I could spring for it but can't this year. Hope someone gets to take advantage of this good deal, not many left.

Again, reiterating that this is a lighter and livelier ski than the K2 Lotta - I had a chance to demo them back to back, same runs, same lines. Really liked both. K2 has more muscle and guts. Dynastar more pop and energy. Just a different feel but similar capabilities. Ultimately, I preferred the Dynastar, by a very narrow margin (and currently a better $ deal as well).
