Any Divas here who go on off-the-beaten-path ski adventures?

I've also been saving up for the last couple of years for Antarctica. It was my goal to go there before I hit my 50s and I'm finally going this October! Yay!!!
Soooo....

How'd it go? :becky:

(and if you prefer...I'm sure others would be interested in reading a trip report of your adventures too...if you're up for a full recap in a thread of its own)

I love the original post and theme as it makes me dream and also reminisce. While I have only gone on the barely off beaten path skiing as an adult, in the far north of Sweden, less far north in northern Iceland and tiny Japanese resorts, I did as a kid ski a fair bit in Iran, which is a bit trickier to ski nowadays than it was then. I would so love to revisit some of the runs and experience again the drive up to the resort. I have friends who have gone more recently. I confess that my next non home based adventure will likely be nordic skiing in Finland which as been calling to me for some time.

It is a fantasy of mine to ski in Iran. Oh, what a time it must have been growing up. What a beautiful country.

I would love to know what your experience touring in Finland is! I can’t wait to hear about it.

I skied in South Korea as a kid a few times, a Chile trip for my first anniversary, Austria/Italy for my 50th birthday. Japan coming 2026. All of these trips have been at resorts- not backcountry. Eastern Europe is very much on the radar as is Argentina, and Norway by boat. I am probably not fit enough for an Annapurna trek. When I was fitter (working on getting it back) I did a 45-mile, three-hut, tour in the Rockies. I’ve also had quite a few nonskiing epic adventures. All to say, my interest in adventures is strong! Money is also an issue, so I’m often reluctant to hire guiding services.

Was chatting with a fellow ski instructor friend, we’re trading Iran for Hokkaido, guiding each other one of these days.

A girlfriend who went to Antarctica two years ago invited me to ski La Grave with her April 2026, along with another woman she met on the Antarctica trip. She said their guide at Antartica is from La Grave and is a total powder whisperer. I know It’ll be fun hanging out with her regardless of conditions, so I heartily agreed.

I would also love to ski the Chic Chocs, I think as a result of a segment in a ski movie I saw many years ago. Let me know if you get around to planning this trip!
Yes, I have too yet to hit the Chic Chocs. April maybe a great time...I know many people who have been there as you probably do also...I hut to hut and skin for some fresh tracks would be amazing. The only problem is keeping my husband home..He would be so jealous

I am traveling from Vermont out west in the truck camper again this year. Making Garden City my home base , skiing at Beaver. Will plan on being there March 5th - 17th. Always love to hook up with other skiers. I have the Indy and Ikon passes.
