Another Boot Fitting Story

I've been on the hill 5 days so far this year and I am really noticing a difference in my skiing this year. This is my year to try and stop skidding all over the place and start to really get to work on the carve.

Last year, I upgraded to real skis - moving out of my sweet luvs and into one luvs and real boots - moving from novice technicas to solomon rush 8s. I thought I was set , but I have been noticing some control issues and as I started to pack out the liners on the solomons it got much worse.

I was noticing that my left turns are MUCH better than my rights. Also my left knee ached after a long day of skiing and it seemed like I was putting alot of pressure on my forefoot on the left foot. Also it seemed like I had alot of "slop" from my forefoot back. Hmmmm ... off to the boot fitters I go.

I got my Solomons at a ski shop, they didnt do a whole fit, but i thought it was good enough. This time I stopped at Nestors (near Allentown, PA) and had a real honest fitting. Laser allingment and pokey knee alignment and all. Walking in, I thought that I was in for some shell adjustments... heres a shocker. I walked out with completely new boots. After padding the heck out of the Solomons, they still couldnt get my feet to apply pressure to the entire side of the boot. On my left foot, i really was skiing with just my forefoot applying pressure to the edges. OUCH!

I walked out with Lange Exclusive 100s with new A-line liners, extra lifty things inside my boot to take up some of the slack volume, side work done on the left shell and an appointment to come back and get my left side shimmed once I get them worked in a bit. (and they match my 2008 one luvs ) Im really excited to see how they (and I) do.

Nestors was awesome. Both people that worked with me (Dad and son Peters) were great. They tried their hardest to make my current boots work even though they did not sell them. And they got the binding check rushed on my skiis so that I could have them back that day since we are leaving for vacation this Friday. They also gave the hubby some great advice on what to demo since he has way grown out of his current skis (4coms). I highly recommend this shop.
