An Adventure to follow

Ursula

Ski Diva Extraordinaire
Hi all gals,

https://explories.de/

I found out about this adventure through a friend of mine in Germany who knows that I live in Bozeman. Sibylle Randoll is following her great-great-grandfather's footsteps. He left Germany in 1880 for a two year trip to come to America to learn more about the making of leather. He ended up in Bozeman. After he returned to Germany, he wrote his travel adventures in a booklet. The story is written in the old German script type "Kurrent". (Also called "Sütterlin").

Sibylle's grandmother "translated" the story into the modern handwriting and gave all her grandchildren the text. Sibylle had the idea to follow the travels of her ancestor.

And she had a dress made for the occasion. She will wear it to special events.

I am in touch with her in the meantime. Sibylle will arrive in Bozeman around June 20th and stay till July 14. She is traveling overland mostly with buses.

I won't be in town when she first will be in here in town, (I hope @Skisailor Laura, who will hopefully be house and cat sitting at that time, will be able to welcome Sibylle.) I am trying to get something arranged with the local news station and /or newspaper....

Check out her latest video about the ocean crossing at the bottom of this page : https://explories.de/the-arrival/

Have fun reading,

Yes! I'm pretty sure Bumper and Locksmith (Ursula's cats) will give me permission to spend some time greeting Sybille and showing her around.

Very exciting as I also have German heritage - my grandparents arrived in New York around 1920.
