Hi. I’m at Jay Peak for a couple of days with family, including a 5 year old and 7 year old, both beginner level, can ride the chair lift, ski greens. Any advice for best trails? Best place to start? Best place to stow gear? Best place to eat? And for the grownups- best trails for an expert skier with a bad knee, who needs to take it easy?! Thanks.

Both the 5&7 year old will be good on the trails off the Taxi or Metro lift. If they want to try the upper mountain Northway to Angel's Wiggle to Paradise Meadows is the place to start.
For blacks, I would suggest starting with Jet or Haynes. JFK is another with a shorter steep section going into a narrower trail.

Headed to Jay again for February break skiing, with the kids a year older! Any comments on current conditions?

no I’m back! But I haven’t been up to Jay at all this season! But coverage and conditions should be excellent until this weekend when we’ll have a bit of a melt and refreeze.

I live really close to Jay Peak (Barton), we got about 2 inches today, Jay got the same. Although it it supposed to warm up, its above freezing right now and it will pretty much stay like that all week. It's supposed to be in the 40's around here Saturday. When I went on Sunday it was a little icy. I would suggest the Taxi or Metro for good green terrain. Doe woods is excellent for beginner glades!

Thank you all. Conditions right now are great, especially on the lower mountain. The kids have enjoyed all the greens, including the woods. Parts of the upper mountain are windblown (no surprise), but still lots of snow pushed to the side.
