Abrupt end to my season.

HOLY MOLY, @AJM … so you were in pain on leg 1, likely due to torn meniscus (?)…Then broke leg 2/tore meniscus/found or developed Baker’s cyst AND broke ankle on leg 1 as well? You’re an absolute tough as nails lady. Sending you healing thoughts on this journey.

Thats about the sum of it
I more than likely tore the meniscus on the right leg earlier on ( see previous posts about sore knee!) then finished it off in the "awfully big crash". I mentioned my ankle to various health professionals right from the beginning but they all said it wasn't broken then when I finally got referred to the specialist he decided to scan it and BINGO its also got a fracture.
I'm actually moving around quite well now but if I overdo it esp on the stationary bike I soon know about it !! Thanks for your kind thoughts xx

Well here I am just over 6 months since the "awfully big crash" and things are improving but sheeesh its been slow !!

The TPF has healed well, I still get occasional pain from it but its well on its way to being back to normal. The ankle break is all healed but the tendons still give me grief, apparantly they will take a long time to settle fully. Mensicus's still cause issues and I'll find out in a couple of weeks if they will need trimming. That leaves the bakers cyst which to be honest hasnt really bothered me at all which is a blessing what with everything else going on

I'm still very restricted in what I can and cant do and my life this past Summer (Southern Hemi) has been very very different to what it normally is. Thank goodness I've been able to kayak (open top as there's no way I could get in a cockpit) and swim but thats been about it along with hours and hours on the exercycle !!

But today I went down to our local ski shop and tried on new ski boots and I managed to get them on without too much pain so I'm calling that a win
Still not sure if I'll be ok to ski this season but I live in hope even if its just on the beginner slope :ski:

Glad to hear you are making steady progress! Hopefully this will all be behind you quite soon. Fingers crossed you will be able to get to skiing this year, but be kind to yourself as you adjust back.

Sooo I went back to ski shop today and had a proper fitting and am now the proud owner of a pair of Atomic Redster STi"s 110 :ski:
We talked about going for a skinnier ski this season but that's on hold until I've had a chance to see if
A) I can actually ski this season
and
B) How I go on my existing Sheeva 9's because we all know how much I love them !!

So all that remains is a visit to the surgeon on the 21st April to see if he wants to go in and give the meniscus a trim, other than that its time and rehab rehab rehab xx

Glad to hear you're on the path to mending!
Its looking good, I've just had a week of personal bests -
I managed 47 mins on the exercycle.
I was able to try on new ski boots and get in and out of them with reasonable ease.
I managed a 600 metre walk (which dosent sound much but 2 weeks ago that wouldve been impossible and l'd have been in a world of pain)
So all in all I'm feeling pretty proud of myself

Sooooo I had another visit with the surgeon today after having a CT scan a few weeks ago just to make sure the fracture had healed properly and the upshot is that the meniscus tears aren't big enough to warrant trimming and the pain I'm still having is due to bone bruising around the fracture site which apparently can take a long time to come right.
Its a relief to know I dont need surgery and that the fracture has healed so that just leaves the bone bruising which will eventually diminish .... whew
