a different sort of Jacket question!

So, yesterday, riding up on the lift, I mentioned to DH that I should start looking for a jacket in a great orange or green color -- I have black now.

For several years, I skied in a purple jacket that had a bad accident, coincidentally at about the same time it didn't fit anymore. When I got the black jacket last year, suddenly, poor DH couldn't find me on the hills anymore!

DH didn't grumble about the idea of a new jacket, but he had a color suggestion.

So, does anyone know who's making excellent purple jackets lately? I love pit zips, plenty of pockets, insulation, etc....

(I'll miss the beer bottle opener in my current jacket, even though I never use it!)

I recall seeing purple in SOS and Nils jackets - should also check those cool snowboard brands.
If you cannot find a jacket you like, a purple neck gaiter may be enough for your husband to identify you. (My daughter had a fluoro green one when everyone her age/size had a light blue jacket, we could always tell which one she was!)

My daughter has TNF Vixen in purple. I don't know what features it has but it is a sharp looking jacket.

I also was considering purple for my second jacket . . . I wear the Patagonia Rubicon Rider in green for winter days, which is a *wonderful* insulated jacket, but need a lighter one for spring skiing.

There is a nice purple Sherpa jacket on REI.com, but I found a review that said it was almost too light and rode up a bit (I'm assuming it lacks a skirt too . . .), so I couldn't bring myself to pull the trigger.

Anyone have any experience with Sherpa brand?

Check out Isis. They make outdoor women's only clothing with great cuts. I have a great bright green shell from them (along with 2 others a vest) and the cuts are always so flattering!

Not for the timid

Now, if you don't mind big stripes, check out the North Face Vicious Jacket in Park Green. It's actually green and a pink/purple. It has a powder skirt, too.

I just got the Cloudveil RPK jacket this year in purple (thanks to TJ Maxx). I know Cloudveil has some others in that color, too.

Haha. Everyone is making purple this year. I just picked up a purple shell yesterday!

I'm a big fan of Spyder lately, and they made some cool looking purple stuff this year. They've got quite a few at TJ Maxx, here, not sure about where you are.

I got a purple down jacket from Oakley for a teen girl I take out on the hill.
My two fav's are my
SOS which is a purple/paisley
Killtec tomato red/orange.

Both very visible!

Another color I'm starting to see a lot of this year is VERY bright (i.e., "apple") green. Love it, and I'm in the market. So if anyone sees anything fun in bright green, let me know!

Ditto SnowHot's sentiments about the drab/neutrals.

MSL -- I TOTALLY agree with the neutrals, and I think white is the most insane color ever made into ski/board wear! Black, at least being seen as a tree beats being invisible...

And I've seen some great greens and oranges this year, along with one fab yellow with orange trim. DH specifically mentioned the purple, and I know he missed it last season too, so I thought purple was an okay one, particularly if I can find something good and bright, rather than the darks like Spyder's and the greyed ones that I've seen (TNF in particular, though I've seen some great colors and fabrics there too)

Snowhot -- I've seen a couple of mentions of this "SOS" now, but can't seem to find anything online. Any suggestions of where to look for this brand?

Cloudveil intrigues me -- the RPK, and the down one, what's it called? (trip to Grand Targhee coming up, maybe they'll have just the thing in their shop!)

Oakley.... all seems "droopy" to me, and I can't talk myself into trying them on even!

Between my duds and Pinto's light yellow with grey pants today we had an interesting time seeing each other in the glades. Good thing we're both loud! :p I really wanted to do bright (and North Face made some bright greens) but couldn't for the price I wanted to pay.

I can't wait to get out in my new bright RED 686 Mannual Rodeo pants! I'm wearing them with my Jewel Blue North Face Varius Guide...my sister said "you're wearing it with THAT jacket??" but I think I'll look fab!

Down Patrol

Yeah, that's it!

So, it comes in what appears to be a really good purple, at least online, is it incredibly warm? OR, will it let me put a few layers between me and it to help it be warm enough? I can't believe how chilly I am this winter!

My husband has the Down Patrol (men's version, of course), and let me put it this way: :jealous:. It's extremely light weight and very warm. PLUS he got it half price at TJ Maxx. I'd love to get one myself.
