Ski Diva Extraordinaire
I had a really great two days of skiing at A Basin on Dec. 5 and 6. The conditions were not the most exciting but the coverage on the open slopes was nice and some trees and powdery areas were available. I spent the whole time telemarking and took 3 lessons with two great instructors who actually taught me how to telemark turn! So an intermediate slope on telemark skis was actually the equivalent of a black on alpine skis. By the end of the 2d day, I was skiing (not well mind you) moguls, trees and powder. If you want to learn to telemark I'd recommend taking lessons rather than trying to learn by watching others. The tele instructors, George and Tim, were both awesome teachers and very encouraging.
Robyn was kind of enough to invite me to a terrific place called Dish where we had a fabulous meal of lots of little platas. Every dish was so exquisite but I have particularly fond memories of the acorn squash and clam chowder. The donuts with a slight hint of cayenne (I think) were wonders and I brought some home to my kids as consolation for my absence and they loved them, and declared that the spice made them especially good for breakfast
So I've had my first fix and I feel very happy! And I know it is not over because I am looking forward to Stowe.
