Well Ladies....it's true! A-Basin is closing for the season today! So.....I pondered going up there to ski a little and work on my tan! Not going to happen! I know....I know.....I should be up there (especially since it has been snowing in the mountains this past week), but I just can't get my butt in gear!

Next year, I'll start early to make up for it! : )
 
I can't believe I missed this thread last week.

I will definitely be contacting you to go to A Basin next season!!!

I don't know how I would feel if I live out west. But here in the east, the best time to ski is the spring! So "make it up early next season" isn't the same.

I've pretty much given up skiing X'mas and New Year, except occasionally. Snow's too iffy, crowds too thick. And I miss the family and other "in town" stuff happening.

So, I'm very much a late season skiier. Spring skiing is definitely my favorate. Even some of my western trips were during late March/early April. I'm guessing if the weather continue to be crappy for eastern skiing, more and more east coast skiers will be going west and more of them will be going late in the season, if only due to the reduced cost.
 
Never skied anywhere west, I've only skied in the midwest so far. Though I'll definitely ski early season, spring skiing is my favorite too. Less people, sunshine, soft snow, life's grand.
 
that's hilarious, i was up doing a trail run in the vail area the same weekend they closed. was also up in frisco last weekend doing a 10k from the base of (the very dry!) copper mountain slopes back to frisco. also, we stayed in breck, and there's a bit more snow above 13k feet there, however, this is the first time since i've been a skiier to see dry slopes and i almost shed a freakin' tear.
 
I skiied Stratton in late January this year after the MLK weekend downpours and it was really sad, brown, and weedy. In late January:eek:
