24 hours of Sunlight

Last year I decided to take on the challenge of participating in the 24 hours of Sunlight ( a 24 hour endurance hike and ski race). I accomplished 5 laps hiking and skiing on a team of 5. This year I decided to join again on my team because it has given me motivation to keep in top shape during the season. I have fallen in love with "earning my turns" and have ventured in some backcountry a bit. I recommend getting out and snowshoeing, hiking, or skinning to burn some calories and enjoy the outdoors. Nice! Last year I had a bunch of races scheduled but had to back out because of injury. I hope I can be back at it this year. I'm not hard core enough to do the 24 hour races, though. I prefer the 12 hour routes so I can have a nice beer and a burger and sleep in my own bed when it's over!

I, too, love backcountry skiing. It feels so much better than riding the chair a zillion times. Those turns sure are sweeter when you've had to skin for an hour to get them!
