171cm - too long?

So I am seriously considering buying these skis as ski #2 in my quiver:
2007 Rossignol Scratch Girl BC

There are some really good deals right now on the 2007's, but the only lengths available are 150 (obviously too short for me) and 171.

I'm about 5'7", 135lbs. My Heads are 163. I guess these being twin tip I should go a bit longer, but 171 seems really long. My husband's skis are 176 and he's 6'2"!

Any thoughts on whether 171 is too much ski for me? I'm leaning towards "no", but would be nice to hear from some people who have skiied a similar type of ski in this length.

Thanks.

I don't know specifically about the Rossi Scratch, but from my Twin tip experience, you'll be well served to go longer than usual.

There are times, I wish my Karma were longer than 169, because they ski short.

For that price, buy them, ski them. IF you don't like them, then sell them. You won't lose much(if anything) if they aren't exactly what you want.:D

I suppose if we had alot of powder these could be useful with a 90mm waist. What do you need them for? Terry

Terry, silly girl. You're mistaking NEED for WANT.:D

Actually, a twin tip in those dimensions, can be a ton of fun in the park and if you're playing around with 180's and 360's.
I know that I was happy to have a twin with 86 in the waist when I tried my unsuccessful 360, and landed a 180.
The extra width under foot lends to stability in that particular situation.

Heh, yeah, I definitely don't *need* them for anything.

The one pair of skis I have now are head monster im77's, which are a great all-around east coast ski. They're really heavy, though. These new skis would be for:
- powder
- playing in the park
- any hiking we do where I have to carry the skis on my back

We don't have much space now, so 2 pairs of skis is really all I can fit until we leave the city. I feel like a 77mm carving ski and a low 90's light powder/park ski is a pretty good combo.

I'm with SnowHot on this one. Any twin in the 170's should be pretty versatile, and if you hate them, very saleable. I've never yet wished my 177 Karma's were shorter, but I have wished they were longer.

I have 183 gotamas and they're perfect. I've even had one or two days where I wished they were longer. And if I want shorter, well, I have other skis for that. I'm 5'8" and I think 171 sounds short if anything. My everyday skis are 178.

I agree that they would work fine. My B3's are 178cm and my tele skis (K2 Dawn Patrols) are 174cm, and I'm about 5'9".

Cool, thanks everyone. I've pretty much talked myself into buying them at this point and will probably do so over the next few days. :D
