08 Line Celebrity women's all-mountain twin tip

I purchased a pair of Line Celebrities on sale with Rossignol Scratch freestyle bindings. These are twin-tip all-mountain skis. They are the women's equivalent to the men's Prophet 90. With 90mm underneath, they are very stable yet get up on edge easily and stay there, even on hard pack.

These skis are very energetic and have a lot of pop out of turns and on jumps. Landing jumps is confidence-inspiring. They are relatively stiff for a women's ski and require some skill - I wouldn't recommend them to a newbie - but for a strong intermediate and above skier they turn easily. They like speed....they are not a dawdle-down-the-hill ski.

In the park, they love to jump and despite their traditionally-mounted bindings, they swing easily into switch and back again with hardly any effort.

In bumps, they are great, despite being a little stiff. I skied through moguls more easily on these than any other skis I've had. The tips are relatively wide (125 mm) and narrower in the back (113), which I think makes them easier in the bumps.

I've been told these skis are good in powder, and with a 90mm waist, they should be.

One of the coolest things about this ski is the hot pink base - it reflects off the snow and leaves a red glow. My husband, who was skiing behind me, said the pink bases made the snow glow red and it looked like afterburners in a jet engine!

I own a pair of Salomon Mynx's, and in comparison the Mynx's are much, much softer and more forgiving. The Mynx seems more of a park ski to me, but the Celebrities were quite comfortable there, too.

If you need to do-anything ski that wants to go fast and periodically venture into the park, this is it.

I've put some more time on these skis and I want to add a few comments:

I skied the Celebs on hardpack last night - very fast conditions. These things held an edge like nobody's business. I was carving at speed down the hill with ease. What a blast! On some of the blacks, which many people avoided last night because of icy conditions, I skied down, no problem. My edges held with ease; I didn't feel like I had to dig in, and there were no skids.

I then went into the park to the jumps. Again, in icy conditions, I hit the kickers and caught some good air with nice, stable landings. Very confidence-inspiring. Got a lot of comments on the skis on the lift, too!

I believe these skis really can do anything!:ski2:

I should have read more reviews before posting so I could have organized better!

BTW I'm 5'10", 165lb, fairly aggressive intermediate-advanced skier, East-Coast based.

check the skis out at https://www.lineskis.com

Out of curiosity, which length did you go with?

I'm really thinking of adding these to the quiver and your review is helping with that decision. :D

I did it! I bought a pair of Celebrities 172s on Friday evening on my way up to Woodstock, VT for a weekend of skiing. Total whim. Sort of. I'd tried to buy a pair on Ebay but got aced out through my Ebay ignorance. But then stopped by a Ludlow shop, saw that they had one pair of last year's 172s and snapped them up w/ a pair of Salomon Z10ti bindings. I'm 5'8" 145 and an athletic, advanced skiier. So here's what I can do on them...

Saturday @ Mad River Glen.
Classic VT spring conditions: A little of everything: fresh, hardpack, crust, corn snow.
These skis were on fire at MRG; I felt like I could take on anything. They swung around the bumps, floated through the powder, plowed through the crud and corn, and felt both lively and powerful. I had a ball. Alas, my DH wasn't so happy as he was still pushing snow w/ his Volkyl 4stars.

Sunday @ Sugarbush
Similar conditions except by the end of the day we were skiing blindly in a cloud -- oddly fun though.
Since Sugarbush had more grooming, I put on my 170 Salomon Bandit Xs and started the day unhappily--my legs feeling tired and heavy. We skiied a bump run w/ lots of clumped snow and it was exhausting. So w/ apologies to my faithful Xs, I ran back to our truck and grabbed the twin tips, along w/ my DHs new 1080 Guns. As soon as we snapped into them, we were revived. We tried the same bump run and it was a cliched night and day effect; instead of getting pushed around by the snow, the skis powered over and through it. And on the groomed, I swear that they turn just by thinking about it; a little leg pressure and they're dancing. I spun some 360s for fun and loved how light my legs felt compared to being on the Bandits.

Monday morning @ Killington
Hardpack groomed & cement hard bumps.
Ok, here's where I wish I'd had the time to switch out for the Bandits. The Celebrities did fine. I really like them on the groomed, and they dig in surprisingly well, but they aren't as stable on fast hardpack. And on the cement bumps they felt both floppy and plank-like -- but, hey, I hate cement bumps anyway and these things need softer snow to thrive (they LOVED Alta powder, which is really why I bought them). I think my Bandits were snickering at me when I returned at lunch...

In sum, if you're looking for a fun, peppy ski that'll take on all sorts of conditions on all parts of the mountain -- but particularly loves lots of soft snow, this is one to try.

Good deal! I bought a pair at ski fever a couple of weeks ago and I can't wait to use them now after these reviews!! We just need some snow over here in the pacific NW!! We have none! Nada! Well...except Palmer (year round skiing), but I refuse to take brand new skis up there this time of year when it hasn't snowed yet. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Please!!!!...Soon!
