    TR Canyons April 14, 2024

I *love* following kids that age who are strong-ish skiers, you absolutely always end up finding some equivalent of the tunnel of fun. They find the most playful stuff. What a fun day! I can't believe how big your grandkids are.

    A-basin in May?

I'll be up this weekend. Late April is a very safe bet imho. If you love spring skiing no matter what then late April or early May are both very safe bets. :) Anyways, feel free to check in here once your dates are closer. Happy to answer any conditions questions I can.

    Alterra to Acquire A-Basin

NO. Parking has been fine. They've done an amazing job managing capacity. I ski weekend-centric days at A-Basin all season and this has really not been a problem. This seems like they want to get ahead of parking in anticipation of more skiers in the future but who knows. Anyways, this news is...

Surge in CA ski accidents links to weed, GoPros, and selfies.

It's hard to imagine gummies are more of an issue than alcohol, imho.

    Women's Surfing Camp/Lessons

p.s. The way I always end up on trips like this - surf camp, the Moab rafting trip we took last year - is I start googling cat or heli ski trips. Within a few minutes I am outraged that I have to switch planes twice and then drive 4 hours and pay 1k+ per day, and then end up booking some other...

    Women's Surfing Camp/Lessons

Oh my gosh, I went to a week long women's surf camp in Costa Rica in 2019 and I LOVED IT. I would have gone again by now if I didn't not travel at all for 2-3 years between then and now due to the pandemic. I went with this company, at the Northern Coast Rica location, and I cannot recommend it...

Well, I'm back in Connecticut, flying home to Denver tomorrow. I really can't believe how much we hit the jackpot with the conditions this week. Colder than I'm used to ( :) ), but wow was the snow good. I put every picture I took in this shared album...

As @ski diva mentioned, a few of us took @ilovepugs tip about Mad River Glen generally being more wind sheltered and headed over there from Bolton this morning. What a fun day! I feel really lucky that I got to ski MRG in such good conditions. Thanks again to @ilovepugs for being such a great...

Some pics from yesterday at Jay! I sound like a broken record, but it was another great day with killer conditions. It snowed a good bit overnight, maybe 6", and snowed through a lot of the morning. The wind died down a bit in the afternoon, too. Super fun. @shadoj, @ballen, and @ski diva in a...

    A-basin in May?

Not at all. The expert terrain is what starts to close in the spring, and it's the intermediate terrain that's left. The snow does get very grabby once it warms up so @Amie H's quick wax suggestion is spot on, but if you're a solid intermediate you'll have plenty to enjoy.

Another chilly and windy day with amazing conditions. None of the east coasters thought it was particularly cold, but I have gotten soft and was moderately freezing. The trees are skiing SO GOOD. I was surprised after almost every single run at how good things are skiing, truly. @jthree in...

    A-basin in May?

This year, conditions will probably be pretty good. Mid-May in general is when they start to close the advanced terrain. They had a spring slide on the Pali terrain in 2005 that killed someone, and they've been very conservative about closing that terrain ever since. The coverage will still be...

Fun day! Conditions are shockingly good given how things were looking a few weeks ago. It was windy, but the Stateside area was more sheltered and after the first hour or so of the day it wasn't so bad. Trees are skiing well! Booting up: Some trees near the bottom of the Bonaventure Chair (I...
