    Epic: Okemo or Sunapee--crowds?

I ski Okemo regularly, and I think mid-week was better this year than it's been for a while. Fridays are still crazy (it's the new Saturday), and though it's not as uncrowded as it was pre-Epic, it's manageable. I would never ski there on a weekend or during a holiday period, though. Don't know...

    Best Women's Ski Clinics?

Sugarbush's Women's Discovery Camp is good. It's for two days, twice a season. I don't know when they'll be holding it next year, but here's a link to this year's page. Killington has a good Women's Camp, too, and their's features Olympian Donna Weinbrecht. You can find more info about that...

Best small suv for winter driving

Today is New Car Day! Just picked up a brand new Toyota Rav 4 XLE Hybrid, and I'm so excited! It's a big change for me, since I've been driving Subarus forever (I hope they'll still let me live in Vermont, since that's pretty much the default state car). I'm really happy with my selection. And...

Days you’ve been on snow 2023-2024

I'm done, too. 92 days, which is a personal record, in spite of it being a pretty poor season here in Vermont (well, until March, anyway). I'm never ready for the season to end and actually go into a post-seasonal depression. It's a looooooooong haul til I get to ski again. (And no, I'm not...

Analyzing 5 years of injuries, crashes and hit-and-runs at Colorado ski areas

Interesting article. Scary, too. How someone can crash into someone and ski/ride away is mind boggling, but apparently it happens all the time.

Days you’ve been on snow 2023-2024

Made it to 90 today! I figure I'll get in a few more days before my season is officially over. Incoming warm weather, rain, and resort closings make extending it beyond that pretty unlikely. For a less than stellar season, it's been an amazing mid March/early April. I hate to see it end.

What to watch? (need streaming series suggestions)

We're really enjoying The Tourist on Netflix. It's about a guy who wakes up in the Australian Outback with no memory of who he is or what he's done. Also liking The Gentleman, which is on Netflix, too. This is about a British aristocrat who inherits his family's estate, only to learn that it's...

Surge in CA ski accidents links to weed, GoPros, and selfies.

I'm fortunate enough not to ski weekends, though on the occasions that I do, I've noticed a lot more risky behavior than I have in the past, For example, more than once I've had people zip around me while I'm standing right at the edge of the trail, with little to no clearance behind me. It's a...

    Sheeva 9 for intermediate skier

The only change to the Blaze for next season is the top sheet. It's been that way for a few years now. I got a killer deal this winter on a new pair of Blaze's from two years ago; the only thing that'd changed between then and now was the graphics.

I always hate putting up this thread, even though it contains important information for all of us. Post closing dates, when you know 'em. Stowe, VT: Just announced it's extending its season through 4/21, so that's good news. Bromley, VT: April 7 Okemo: April 14

    Sheeva 9 for intermediate skier

Yes, I'm the same height and weight and have the 2023's, but in a 157, not a 159. For me, the size is perfect. It's a very fun ski.

How do you feel about people leavings their skis on the ground outside the lodge?

I've seen people do this when there are plenty of racks available. So I'm not sure it's a rack issue.

Surge in CA ski accidents links to weed, GoPros, and selfies.

According to a report by the LA Times, California ski accidents are up nearly 50 percent over the last two years – statistics that news reports have attributed to a rise in GoPro use, selfie stops, and “THC-laced gummies.”
