DIVA DOGS!

Oh, and I don't want to monopolize the dog thread, but I obviously have to post this photo from our hike with our dog trainers last week. They do weekly "pack hikes" with a bunch of dogs -- some new puppies that they're currently training, and some dogs from last summer who are 1-2 years old now. It was VERY ADORABLE.

That big guy on the right of the photo is less than a year old! He's one of these: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Šarplaninac

2 German shorthaired pointers in one group? I didn't think they were that common here.

The group hike seems like such a good thing for Lark.

I LOVE that Chow Chow!! It looks like old fashioned Chow Chows, before breeders made them weirder. Or maybe it's a mix? I fostered one that looked like that.

I don't think she's a mix... her name is Tess and she just got professionally groomed so she's looking particularly adorable lately. Here's another pic.

Edit: I looked at some pictures and she must be a mix, it looks like. I'll ask next time!

There are 2 GSPs! One is owned by the trainers and the other is a client's dog. It's true I don't really see them around here too much generally but there are two on this hike. Here's the puppy one.

When this mess is over, someone will need to sign me up for -- and drag me to -- socialization activities. I don't think I'm fit for people-ing anymore.

Tess is beautiful!

My Chow Chow foster Jazzy was a very special dog to me. She was seized by the city as a cruelty case. She was basically living on her own and had tunneled through blackberry brambles in and around an alley looking for food and water. It took Humane Law Enforcement a while to catch her, and her owner was a bonafide Bad Guy, so they would only go to the property when SPD could come with them. She had to be shaved immediately because her fur was so matted. But even when she looked pathetic, people were captivated by her. When we were taking her "after" photos, in the sculpture park, tourists started gathering around her and taking photos, and then someone else asked if she was a celebrity dog.

Below is before and after. I wish I could have kept her but our own dog, a Chow/Rottie mix, who was always such a cream puff, didn't like her. Luckily her new people kept in touch though she only lived another year. I'm not usually a woo-woo kind of person but I think she came to me in a dream.
