The Artist Behind Ski Trail Maps

I read an article about him last year, and ever since, I notice the artist's signature on the trail maps I see. I saw one that looked off - sure enough, not his! Maybe I'm just used to his style. His maps are beautiful, though.

Its is always interesting when a resort uses an different artist for their maps. I'm so used to his maps seeing something different always throws me off. I used to collect trail maps a s a kid. I kind of wish I still had all of them I had saved.

I'm find it neat that Niehues has done paintings for small places as well as large ski resorts like Big Sky and Park City. Cataloochee in NC and Massanutten in NC have trail maps based on his paintings. Seems like he recently did a painting for Hunter.

He updated the Alta painting a few years ago. Did some adjustments over the summer related to the installation of the new Supreme lift.
