Poll: Your Shoe Size vs. Your Ski Boot Size

I think the point is that there isn't one, or at least not an accurate one. For instance, mustski, scrapula and I all take a size 9 street shoe, but I'm in a 24.5, mustski's in a 25, and scrapula's in a 25.5!
I mean just the different shoes size conversion, NOT between street shoes vs ski boots.

After all, ski boots uses "international size", meaning the number is the centimeter. But there's no conversion between what's "US size", vs "European size" vs "international size".

I only know of the conversion between the 3 for my size: (US) 6.5 = (Europen) 37 = (International) 23.5

My boot size is 22, which is 1 1/2 centimeter shorter than my street size.

But what about the rest of the sizes?

Another interesting thread......although after lurking and now joining some how I feel my boots are too big and my skis are to short.....LOL.

Will be seeing "approved list" boot fitter for assessment in two weeks - as 30+ days and starting to pack out a bit. Interesting to get opinion as to boot fit from other fitter...... btw my 11 DD is also in 23.5 but a Junior Lange boot she is a 6 - 6.5 (same boot for a second season - just switched out her thick socks to real thin ski socks. lol. for some reason she has no fit issues and yet these boots are a royal pain to get into and she is only on 2nd buckle)

Obviously there's a ton of difference in boot fit preferences, etc. Just for fun, reply below with...

My street shoes are size: dress 6.5W (Euro 37), running (with custom orthotics) 7.5W
My ski boots are size: 23.5 Black Diamond.
I am a (Beg, Int, Adv, Exp) skier: Advanced

My BSL (boot sole length) is: 277
Flex: 100

I think if I were patient enough to be fitted for an exclusively alpine boot, it would be a smaller size, but right now I'm lazy.

Interesting. I never realized what kind of measurements they were. I've never even measured my foot length in cm, though I think REI put me in 129s or 130s. I'm sure there's a chart somewhere, and most of my shoes have four sizes on the tags: US, UK, European, and I guess the fourth must be international. I just never read that far.

My feet and especially heels are very narrow, and my boots have been altered to add a plastic heel cup to narrow the heel area. I'm in low-volume Lange boots that are the closest to a good fit I'm probably likely to get.

Flex: 100 or 140 (can swap out the tongue)

I love my current boots. Have had trouble in the past putting boots on due to past ankle injuries, so the larger boot size (old boots 26) with a well formed ID lining has saved me a lot of pain.

My ski boots are size: 22.5

My BSL (boot sole length) is: I believe it's 280. I know this Technica low volume boot was 4 mm longer than many other brands in that same size, which made a difference. Just got them in January.
The last of my boots is:

My older boots were 23.5, also low volume (I think). They were really big. I'm surprised at the other 6.5's who are in 23.5 boots.

I do miss wearing my thick wool socks, though. Now I have to wear these tissue thin synthetic socks.

Street shoe - 7 1/2 - 8
Ski boots - 24.5
I am an advanced skier
My BSL - 283
Last of my boot - 98
Flex - 90 or 100, not sure, but these buggers are stiff! I have to wait for them to warm up to get out of them.

I've always worn a 24.5 boot. The length is right, but I need a bigger toe box than the Diablo gives me.

My Technicas are on the stiff side of 90. Good for you, but not for me. Had to get them softened up. Took me about 3 weeks to decide if it was merely transitioning from my old softie of a boot to a real boot, or if they were really too stiff. I'm no Jilly on the slopes! Maybe in a few years...

Interesting thread for sure. Welcome @Skibuilder. The variety in sizing is interesting. It certainly points out that volume and shape of foot probably plays a much bigger role in fitting than actual street shoe siziing.
