    Okemo or Jay for April 7,8

    I skied Okemo today and found a wide range of conditions from corduroy to polished marble. The conditions got better as the day went on. The trails that were open (97) had very good coverage. They are saving the South Side for the weekenders. As Wendy said, we are supposed to get warm weather...

    I also have the Blizzard 7.6 Viva and love them. They laugh at death cookies and take me where ever I want to go. good at speed too. In fact, I like them so much that the pair I am using is my second pair. I wore out the first pair!

    All the roads in VT are dry right now. Vermont does a wonderful job of keeping the roads clear. You should have no problem.

    I agree with the consensus that the 2 day clinic is too short. I have never taken the 5 day, but have taken the 3 day 8 times. It's a wonderful program and you do keep the same great instructors the entire time. If you can afford the time and dollars, I say treat yourself to a wonderful learning...

    What a great thread. I started skiing at age 45 and will apply to the 70+ski club in just a couple of months. My advice is to get equipment as soon as possible, boots first. I think having your own equipment is a reason to ski and gives you the added confidence that comes with a consistent set...

    Okemo First-Timers - Solitude Village or Jackson Gore?

    Of the on mountain choices, I prefer Solitude because you are right there at a lift. Jackson Gore, however, offers a lounge , ski shop, store, and restaurant. But,either way, Okemo is a fun mountain with great snow conditions. You should have a great time.

    There is a Buckman's ski shop on Bellvue Ave. in Reading,Pa. They are a good reliable shop. I would get the boots fixed before you head out for your trip.
